Purpose: The purpose of this systematic literature review was to assess the usefulness of the Thyroid Image Reporting and Data System (K-TIRADS) classification proposed by Kwak for differentiation of thyroid nodules.
Material And Methods: Four literature databases were searched for relevant articles through early January 2017. A meta-analysis was performed to calculate pooled sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio (LR+), negative likelihood ratio (LR-) and diagnostic odds ratio (DOR). The area under the curve (AUC) from the pooled receiver operating characteristic (ROC) was used to assess the usefulness of this classification for differentiation of thyroid nodules. Meta-analysis was conducted by using meta-analysis software.
Results: We analysed six publications describing 10,926 nodules. Pooled sensitivity, specificity, LR+, LR-, DOR, and AUC for pooled ROC were 0.983 (95 % CI 0.976-0.989), 0.552 (95 % CI 0.542-0.562), 2.666 (95 % CI 1.692-4.198), 0.05 (95 % CI 0.035-0.072), 51.020 (95 % CI 15.241-170.79) and 0.938, respectively.
Conclusions: Kwak TIRADS has high sensitivity and low specificity. Thus, it is very useful to discard the benign cases and to reduce the number of biopsies.
Key Points: • Routine, adequate standardization of thyroid nodules ultrasound classification is mandatory. • Kwak TIRADS parameters are accurate for differentiating focal thyroid lesions. • Kwak TIRADS system is simple to apply. • Kwak TIRADS system may become a useful diagnostic tool.

Background: The lack of standardization in risk stratification systems (RSSs) has led to uncertainty in selecting the most effective RSS for diagnosing malignancy risk in thyroid nodules. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare the diagnostic performance of four current score-based RSSs according to thyroid nodule size, with the goal of determining the most effective RSS and aiding in clinical decision-making.
Methods: Between July 2013 and January 2019, a total of 2,667 consecutive patients presenting with 3,944 thyroid nodules were pathologically diagnosed after thyroidectomy and/or ultrasound (US)-guided fine-needle aspiration (FNA).

Purpose: To compare the diagnostic performance of six different currently available guidelines including the American College of Radiology Thyroid Imaging and Reporting Data System (ACR-TIRADS), Kwak-TIRADS, Korean TIRADS (K-TIRADS), European TIRADS (EU-TIRADS), American Thyroid Association (ATA) and Chinese TIRADS (C-TIRADS), in differentiating malignant from benign thyroid nodules (TN).
Materials And Methods: In this single-center study, between January-2007 and September-2023, ultrasound (US) images of TNs that were pathologically proven either by surgery or by fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB), were retrospectively evaluated and categorized according to six different currently available guidelines. Area under curve (AUC), sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values (PPV and NPV, respectively) and miss rates for malignancy (MRM) were calculated for each guideline.

Background: Thyroid disorders, relatively common diseases of the endocrine system, have risen gradually in recent years. Early detection and accurate diagnosis of thyroid cancer hold exceptional importance. This study aimed to determine the efficacy of a modified TI-RADS and BRAFV600E mutation testing for thyroid cancer (PTC) diagnosis.

. There has been a considerable amount of computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) methods highlighted in the field of ultrasonic examination (USE) of thyroid nodules. However, few researches focused on the automatic risk classification, which was the basis for determining whether fine needle aspiration (FNA) was needed.
