A new species of coral associated barnacle (Balanomorpha: Pyrgomatidae) sharing morphological features of (Anderson, 1992) and Perreault, 2014 is described. It has a fused shell and opercular plates, characteristic of . However, the morphology of the tergum and somatic body are closer to . Sequence divergence of mitochondrial DNA 12S rDNA and COI reveals this new species clusters with the clade. Therefore this new form is assigned to the genus , as Concomitantly the diagnosis of is emended to include species with fused or four- plated shells and fused opercular plates. The new species is distinct from all species in having a fused shell. It inhabits the corals spp. and is distributed from the Dongsha Atoll in the South China Sea, Orchid Island of Taiwan in the Pacific Ocean, to Madang in Papua New Guinea waters.

The aim was to identify sex-specific factors linked with oral anticoagulant initiation in a cohort of patients with atrial fibrillation using administrative data from Quebec (Canada) between 2014 and 2017. Cohort entry defined as new users, that is, no claims in last 12 months, a cohort of 32 050 patients was stratified in two groups, that is, women and men. Multivariable regression models were used to identify factors of initiations for low- and standard-dose direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) versus warfarin, and low- versus standard-dose DOACs.

Intervention: In 2014-2015, more than 400 public housing units were constructed in Nunavut and Nunavik, two of the four Inuit regions in Canada. This provided the opportunity to assess the impact of improved housing conditions from a population health perspective in 12 Inuit communities where housing needs were the most severe. The aim of the research is to examine the associations between changes in housing conditions and changes in psychological distress pre-post rehousing.

Article Synopsis
  • * A study analyzed 77 grapevine leaf samples from three Quebec vineyards to identify viral diversity using advanced sequencing methods.
  • * The research detected the grapevine yellow speckle viroid 1 (GYSVd-1) in 16 samples, leading to the assembly and submission of seven complete GYSVd-1 genomes to GenBank, showing high similarity to a Brazilian isolate.

Purpose: To assess whether angioplasty of hemodialysis access (HA) stenosis with a drug-coated balloon (DCB) would prevent restenosis in comparison with plain-balloon percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA).

Materials And Methods: This prospective randomized clinical trial enrolled 120 patients with dysfunctional arteriovenous fistulae (n = 109) and grafts (n = 11), due to a ≥50% stenosis between March 2014 and April 2018. All patients underwent high-pressure balloon angioplasty and were then randomized to either DCB (n = 60) or PTA (n = 60).

Objectives: In 2014-2015, over 400 social housing units were constructed in selected communities in Nunavik and Nunavut, two Inuit regions in northern Canada where housing shortages and poor quality housing are endemic and undermine population health. This paper presents results from a before-and-after study examining the effects of rehousing, i.e.
