Diterpenoids are high value compounds characterized by high structural complexity. They constitute the largest class of specialized metabolites produced by plants. Diterpenoids are flexible molecules able to engage in specific binding to drug targets like receptors and transporters. In this review we provide an account on how the complex pathways for diterpenoids may be elucidated. Following plant pathway discovery, the compounds may be produced in heterologous hosts like yeasts and E. coli. Environmentally contained production in photosynthetic cells like cyanobacteria, green algae or mosses are envisioned as the ultimate future production system.

Confronting escalating challenges in energy security and environmental sustainability has intensified interest in renewable sources for fuels and chemicals. Among the most promising alternatives, sugars derived from biomass are emerging as a cornerstone in advancing an environmentally sustainable economy. Within this framework, the development of sunlight-driven carbohydrate oxidation is of significant interest, as it enables the production of a broad spectrum of high-value, bio-sourced chemicals through eco-friendly processes.

Modifying ZnO nanorods with graphene oxide (GO) is crucial for enhancing photocatalytic degradation by boosting the concentration of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the reaction medium. In this study, we present a straightforward chemical synthesis of ZnO nanorods embedded on GO, forming a novel nanocomposite, GOZ. This composite serves as an efficient photocatalyst for the sunlight-driven degradation of methylene blue (MB) and ciprofloxacin (CIP).

One of the best ways to remove organic dyes based contaminant from water resources and industrial waste water is the sunlight driven photo-catalytic degradation method. The theme of the present investigation is the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye using economically produced CuSe nanoparticles (NPs) catalyst under solar radiations. The CuSe NPs crystallized in the cubic structural phase with an average crystallite size around 19 nm.
