Stability of enzymes is an important parameter for their industrial applicability. Here, we report successful immobilization of β-amylase (bamyl) from peanut (Arachis hypogaea) onto Graphene oxide-carbon nanotube composite (GO-CNT), Graphene oxide nanosheets (GO) and Iron oxide nanoparticles (FeO). The Box-Behnken Design of Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was used which optimized parameters affecting immobilization and gave 90%, 88% and 71% immobilization efficiency, respectively, for the above matrices. β-Amylase immobilization onto GO-CNT (bamyl@GO-CNT) and FeO (bamyl@FeO), resulted into approximately 70% retention of activity at 65 °C after 100 min of exposure. We used atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM and TEM), Fourier transformed infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and fluorescence microscopy for characterization of free and enzyme bound nanostructures (NS). Due to the non-toxic nature of immobilization matrices and simple but elegant immobilization procedure, these may have potential utility as industrial biocatalysts for production of maltose.

Booidean snakes are a diverse and widespread lineage with an intriguing evolutionary and biogeographic history. By means of cranial morphology and osteology, this study investigates the evolutionary convergence in the Neotropical genera Boa and Corallus on the one hand and the Malagasy clade comprising Acrantophis and Sanzinia on the other. We hypothesize that the mostly arboreal Corallus and Sanzinia present larger jaws and longer teeth to keep hold of the prey and resist gravity and torsional forces acting on their skull while hanging from branches, while terrestrial genera such as Acrantophis show thinner jaws with shorter teeth because they can rely on the full length of their coils to immobilize and constrict the prey together with a substrate that supports the whole of their body.

A novel proposal is introduced with an unlabeled electrochemical immunosensor for the detection of tumor broad-spectrum biomarker vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF165) Copper-based metal organic frameworks (Cu MOFs)-carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were employed as its substrates, functionalized with methylene blue (MB) for signal enhancement. Cu-MOFs-MWCNTs nanocomposites were synthesized successfully via a solvothermal method and were then deposited on the surface of a glassy carbon electrode (GCE), with the addition of methylene blue to amplify the signal. Due to the expansive specific surface area provided by the carbon nanotubes and the amino groups facilitated by the metal-organic framework nanomaterials, the anti-VEGF165 monoclonal antibody was immobilized on the electrochemical immunosensor through covalent bonding, which could bind specifically to VEGF165, thereby causing a detectable change in the current.
