Contextuality is an essential characteristic of quantum theory, and supplies the power for many quantum information processes. Previous tests of contextuality focus mainly on the probability distribution of measurement results. However, a test of contextuality can be formulated in terms of entropic inequalities whose violations imply information deficit in the studied system. This information deficit has not been observed on a single local system. Here we report the first experimental detection of information deficit in an entropic test of quantum contextuality based on photonic setup. The corresponding inequality is violated with more than 13 standard deviations.

Daidzein improves muscle atrophy caused by lovastatin by regulating the AMPK/FOXO3a axis.

Chin Med

December 2024

State Key Laboratory of Natural Medicines, School of Traditional Chinese Pharmacy, China Pharmaceutical University, Nanjing, 210009, China.

Background: Lovastatin, the main lipid-lowering component in red yeast rice, is a golden anti-lipid drug, but its long-term application is continuously challenged by potential skeletal muscle atrophy. Daidzein, an isoflavone derived from soybeans and many Chinese medicines, shows therapeutic potential in treating muscle-related diseases and metabolic disorders. However, whether daidzein can improve lovastatin-induced muscle atrophy and the specific mechanism needs to further study.

EGFR status assessment is mandatory for adjuvant decision-making of resected stage IB-IIIA non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NS-NSCLC). It is questionable whether single-gene RT-PCR versus next-generation sequencing (NGS) should be used for this evaluation. Moreover, co-occurring mutations have an impact on tumor behavior and may influence future therapeutic decision-making.

Optical approaches to monitor neural activity are transforming neuroscience, owing to a fast-evolving palette of genetically encoded molecular reporters. However, the field still requires robust and label-free technologies to monitor the multifaceted biomolecular changes accompanying brain development, aging or disease. Here, we have developed vibrational fiber photometry as a low-invasive method for label-free monitoring of the biomolecular content of arbitrarily deep regions of the mouse brain in vivo through spontaneous Raman spectroscopy.

DNA Tetrahedron-enhanced single-particle counting integrated with cascaded CRISPR Program for ultrasensitive dual RNAs logic sensing.

National Engineering Research Center for Biomaterials, Sichuan University, Chengdu 610064, People's Republic of China.

CRISPR-Cas-based technology, emerging as a leading platform for molecular assays, has been extensively researched and applied in bioanalysis. However, achieving simultaneous and highly sensitive detection of multiple nucleic acid targets remains a significant challenge for most current CRISPR-Cas systems. Herein, a CRISPR Cas12a based calibratable single particle counting-mediated biosensor was constructed for dual RNAs logic and ultra-sensitive detection in one tube based on DNA Tetrahedron (DTN)-interface supported fluorescent particle probes coupled with a novel synergistic cascaded strategy between CRISPR Cas13a system and strand displacement amplification (SDA).

Ultrasonic time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD) technique is applied to non-destructive testing in engineering, but the dead zone influences its applicable range. Alternative TOFD techniques adopt the indirect diffracted waves having long propagation times to decouple from the lateral wave and detect near-surface defects. It should be noted that the applicability of these diffracted waves varies with parameter conditions employed for detection, e.
