Acute kidney injury (AKI) in paediatric kidney transplant recipients is common. Infection including urinary tract infection (UTI) and rejection are the most common causes in children. Surgical complications often cause AKI early post-transplant, whereas BK polyomavirus nephropathy rarely occurs in the first month post-transplant.

New paternity has been related to placenta-associated complications in pregnancy. We evaluated whether a lack of earlier pregnancies or deliveries with a current father are associated with the pregnancy, prenatal, and early neonatal outcomes after controlling for the most common maternal confounders in prospective birth cohort study. An online questionnaire was used to survey 4459 pregnant women from the Kuopio Birth Cohort in their third trimester.

Background: Traditional childhood uvulectomy (TCU) is an unregulated cultural practice associated with significant health risks, including infections, anemia, aspiration, and oral or pharyngeal injuries. The reuse of unsafe tools such as blades, needles, or thread loops exacerbates the spread of infectious diseases like HIV and hepatitis B. Despite its clinical significance, the pooled prevalence and associated factors of TCU have not been adequately examined through systematic reviews or meta-analyses.
