Ebola virus (EBOV) causes severe disease in humans, with mortality as high as 90%. The small-molecule antiviral drug remdesivir (RDV) has demonstrated a survival benefit in EBOV-exposed rhesus macaques. Here, we characterize the efficacy of multiple intravenous RDV dosing regimens on survival of rhesus macaques 42 days after intramuscular EBOV exposure.

Nasal spray treatments that inhibit the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) entry into nose and nasopharynx at early stages can be an appropriate approach to stop or delay the progression of the disease. We performed a prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group, multicentric, phase II clinical trial comparing the rate of hospitalization due to COVID-19 infection between azelastine 0.1% nasal spray and placebo nasal spray treatment groups.

Virtual reality (VR) has been used in research and clinical practice in the management of Parkinson's disease (PD), potentially enhancing physiotherapy. Adverse events (AEs) associated with VR applications in PD have been poorly explored. We conducted a randomized controlled trial to compare two 12-week interventions using physiotherapy and immersive VR, and analyzed the frequency and type of AEs occurring in 30 people with PD.

Stroke is a global health issue caused by reduced blood flow to the brain, which leads to severe motor disabilities. Measuring oxygen levels in the brain tissue is crucial for understanding the severity and evolution of stroke. While CT or fMRI scans are preferred for confirming a stroke due to their high sensitivity, Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS)-based systems could be an alternative for monitoring stroke evolution.
