Alzheimer's disease pathophysiology is believed to involve various abnormalities, including those of amyloid beta (Ab) peptide and tau processing, inflammation, oxidative stress, and vascular risk factors. Aβ peptides exist in a dynamic continuum of conformational states from monomeric Aβ, to soluble progressively larger Aβ assemblies that include a range of low molecular weight oligomers to higher molecular weight protofibrils, and finally to insoluble fibrils (plaques). Various lines of evidence support the "amyloid hypothesis" that Aβ plays a central role in the pathogenesis of AD, and several immunotherapies have been developed to interact with this cascade in various different places which may reduce the number of soluble aggregates and insoluble Aβ fibrils deposited in the brain.

Elevated lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] levels are increasingly recognized as a significant risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and may also contribute to atrial fibrillation (AF). This review investigated the indirect mechanisms through which Lp(a) may influence AF, including proatherogenic, prothrombotic, and proinflammatory pathways. Traditional lipid-lowering therapies, such as lifestyle modifications and statins, have limited effects on Lp(a) levels.

A 28-year-old male presented with the absence of the upper left central incisor, which had been extracted 5 years prior due to fracture. Clinical and radiographic assessments indicated normal alveolar bone levels; however, the esthetic demands required a specialized approach.

In old cultural landscapes of Central and East European (CEE) countries, a vast species decline has been reported for various taxa although intensive land cultivation has been reduced in favor of agroecological transformation, nature conservation and sustainable land management in the past 30 years. Thus, in the recent history, agricultural intensification cannot solely be discussed as the major driver controlling biodiversity.

Ectopic varices can result from portal vein stenosis following pancreaticoduodenectomy with concomitant portal vein resection reconstruction, and they can cause gastrointestinal bleeding. Although they can sometimes be fatal, various treatments have been reported. This report describes a case in which a percutaneous transhepatic approach was used to simultaneously perform variceal embolization and portal vein stenting in which a favorable outcome was achieved.
