A palladium-catalyzed synthesis method of fluorenones has been developed. A variety of bis(2-bromophenyl)methanols could undergo the reaction smoothly in the presence of Pd(OAc), affording a series of fluorenones in moderate to good yields (two steps). Mechanistic studies reveal that the reaction might be triggered by oxidation of alcohol followed by intramolecular reductive coupling.

A synthetic strategy of a palladium-catalyzed cascade annulation reaction followed by aerial oxidation was designed to construct 6-benzo[c]chromene scaffolds. Various 6-benzo[c]chromenes were synthesized under mild reaction conditions using easily accessible -QMs and commercially available -hydroxyarylboronic acids. One of the synthesized chromenes has been ambiguously confirmed by single-crystal XRD analysis.

A novel palladium-catalyzed intramolecular C-H amination via oxidative coupling exploiting inactivated N-substituted aryl amines on indoles for the one-pot synthesis of novel 11-benzo[4,5]imidazo[1,2-]indole derivatives is reported. The optimized reaction conditions accommodated a wide range of electronic variations on both the indole and the pendant aryl amine ring, resulting in products with good to excellent yields.

A palladium-catalyzed asymmetric chlorocyclization of 1,6-enynes has been described. Controlling the chloride ion concentration in the system by substrate design is the key to achieving asymmetric chlorinated cyclization. In the presence of Pd(PhCN)Cl and chiral phosphoramidite ligands, the reaction accesses diverse chiral ()-α-chloromethylene-γ-butyrolactams with excellent selectivity and enantioselectivity.
