We appreciate Reierson's thoughtful commentary on our 2019 paper, which described our experiences, ethical process, judgment calls, and lessons from a 2016-2017 data-sharing pilot between Crisis Text Line and academic researchers. The commentary raises important questions about the ethical conduct of health research in the digital age, particularly regarding informed consent, potential conflicts of interest, and the protection of vulnerable populations. Our article focused specifically on the noncommercial use of Crisis Text Line data for research purposes, so we restrict our reply to points relevant to such usage.

Multifunctional Polar Polymer Boosting PEO Electrolytes toward High Room Temperature Ionic Conductivity, High-Voltage Stability, and Excellent Elongation.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

January 2025

International Science and Technology Cooperation Base of Energy Materials and Application, College of Chemical Engineering, Zhejiang University of Technology, Hangzhou 310014, P.R. China.

Poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) has been widely studied as an electrolyte owing to its excellent lithium compatibility and good film-forming properties. However, its electrochemical performance at room temperature remains a significant challenge due to its low ionic conductivity, narrow electrochemical window, and continuous decomposition. Herein, we prepare a multifunctional polar polymer to optimize PEO's electrochemical properties and cycling stability.

Structure Matters: Tailored Graphitization of Carbon Dots Enhances Photocatalytic Performance.

ACS Nano

January 2025

Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, INSTM UdR Trieste, University of Trieste, Via Licio Giorgieri 1, 34127 Trieste, Italy.

The chemical structure and photoredox properties of carbon dots () are not yet fully understood. However, it has been reported that, by carefully choosing the starting materials and tuning their synthesis conditions, it is possible to obtain with different chemical structures and therefore different photocatalytic performance. For this work, a family of different was synthesized in Milli-Q water a microwave-assisted protocol, using citric acid and urea as precursors.

Prion diseases, particularly sporadic cases, pose a challenge due to their complex nature and heterogeneity. The underlying mechanism of the spontaneous conversion from PrPC to PrPSc, the hallmark of prion diseases, remains elusive. To shed light on this process and the involvement of cofactors, we have developed an in vitro system that faithfully mimics spontaneous prion misfolding using minimal components.

Demographic Characteristics and Relational Coordination in ICU Teams: Implications for Building Diverse and Effective Healthcare Collaboration.

J Nurs Adm

February 2025

Author Affiliations: Assistant Professor (Dr House), University of North Carolina Greensboro School of Nursing; Assistant Professor (Dr Palazzolo), Truman State University Health and Exercise Science Department, Kirlsville, Missouri; Chief, Center for Nursing Science and Clinical Inquiry (Dr Stucky), Landstuhl, Germany; Instructor (Dr Campbell), Weber State University Annie Taylor Dee School of Nursing, Ogden, Utah; Clinical Nurse Specialist (Williams), Eglin Air Force Base Hospital, Eglin, Florida; PhD Student (Langerman), University of North Carolina Greensboro School of Nursing.

Objective: To determine if professional roles and demographic characteristics predict relational coordination (RC) among healthcare professionals in the ICU.

Background: Race, age, and sex diversity are increasing in the medical and nursing workforce, raising questions regarding how well healthcare professionals are collaborating. RC is a validated model for coordinating interdependent work among healthcare professionals.
