Reaction of bis-(pyridin-3-ylmeth-yl)sulfane () with cobalt(II) chloride in methanol led to the formation of the title coordination polymer, [CoCl(CHNS)(CHOH)] , in which the Co cation lies on a crystallographic inversion centre and the S atom of the ligand lies on a twofold rotation axis. Each Co ion is coordinated by two pyridine N atoms from two bridging ligands, two O atoms from methanol mol-ecules and two chloride anions, all inversion-related. The complex unit has an elongated octa-hedral geometry, in which NO donor atoms occupy the equatorial positions and two chloride anions occupy the axial positions. Each ligand links two Co ions, forming an infinite zigzag chain propagating along the axis direction and further stabilized by O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds between the methanol mol-ecules and the chloride anions. Adjacent chains in the structure are connected by inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, resulting in the formation of a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.

Plant nitrate transporters in the NPF (NRT1) family are characterized by multifunctionality and their involvement in a number of physiological processes. The proteins in this family have been identified in many monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous species: a bioinformatic analysis predicts from 20 to 139 members in the plant genomes sequenced so far, including mosses. Plant NPFs are phylogenetically related to proton-coupled oligopeptide transporters, which are evolutionally conserved in all kingdoms of life apart from Archaea.

Flexible wearable sensors have obtained tremendous interest in various fields and conductive hydrogels are a promising candidate. Nevertheless, the insufficient mechanical properties, the low electrical conductivity and sensitivity, and the limited functional properties prevent the development of hydrogels as wearable sensors. In this study, an SFMA/BAChol/PAA/ZnCl hydrogel was fabricated with high mechanical strength and versatile comprehensive properties.

: Increased sodium chloride (NaCl) intake led to leukocyte activation and impaired vasodilatation via increased oxidative stress in human/animal models. Interestingly, subpressor doses of angiotensin II (AngII) restored endothelium-dependent vascular reactivity, which was impaired in a high-salt (HS) diet in animal models. Therefore, the present study aimed to assess the effects of AngII exposure following high salt (HS) loading on endothelial cells' (ECs') viability, activation, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production.

Ischemia-reperfusion injury is a serious clinical pathology involving multiple organs such as the heart and brain. The injury results from oxidative stress, inflammatory response and cell death triggered by restoring tissue blood flow after ischemia, leading to severe cell and tissue damage. In recent years, the volume-regulated anion channel (VRAC) has gained attention as an important membrane protein complex.

Interaction of a novel dihydroxy dibenzoazacrown (HDTC) with various surfactants of different charges, for example, anionic (sodium dodecylsulfate, SDS), cationic (dodecyl trimethylammonium bromide, DTAB), cationic gemini (butanediyl-1,4-bis(dimethylcetylammonium bromide), 16-4-16), ionic liquid (1-hexadecyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, CMImCl), and nonionic (polyoxyethylene sorbitan monostearate, Tween-60), has been investigated at a widespread range of surfactant concentrations (including premicellar, micellar, and postmicellar regime) in 15% (v/v) EtOH medium at room temperature. Several experimental techniques, viz., tensiometry, UV-vis spectroscopy, and steady-state fluorimetry, are implemented to explicate these interactions.
