Liver elastography is a noninvasive method for diagnosing fibrosis that has been developed over the last decade in response to the limitations of liver biopsies, blood markers, and traditional imaging modalities. There are different methods of measuring tissue stiffness through ultrasound; thus far, shear wave elastography has proven superior for diagnosing clinically significant liver fibrosis, where early detection modifies the approach to treatment and improves prognosis. This article aims to provide a brief review of the different methods for performing elastography with ultrasound, focusing especially on shear wave elastography and on technical aspects for carrying out the procedure and key points for interpreting the findings.

Objective: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is estimated to affect a third of Australian adults, and its prevalence is predicted to rise, increasing the burden on the healthcare system. The LOCal Assessment and Triage Evaluation of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (LOCATE-NAFLD) trialled a community-based fibrosis assessment service using FibroScan to reduce the time to diagnosis of high-risk NAFLD and improve patient outcomes.
Methods: We conducted a 1:1 parallel randomised trial to compare two alternative models of care for NAFLD diagnosis and assessment.

Chronic liver disease (CLD) presents a significant global health burden, demanding effective tools for diagnosis and monitoring. Traditionally, liver biopsy has been the gold standard for evaluating liver fibrosis and other chronic liver conditions. However, biopsy's invasiveness, associated risks, and sampling variability indicate the need for reliable, noninvasive alternatives.

The accurate staging of liver fibrosis is crucial for managing chronic liver disease (CLD). Although magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) is the reference standard for noninvasive fibrosis assessment, its cost, specialized hardware, and operational demands restrict accessibility. In contrast, two-dimensional shear-wave elastography (2D-SWE) is more affordable, accessible, and widely integrated into routine ultrasound systems.

Sonoelastography, a novel ultrasound-based technique, is emerging as a valuable tool in prenatal diagnostics by quantifying tissue elasticity and stiffness in vivo. This narrative review explores the application of sonoelastography in assessing maternal and fetal health, with a focus on cervical, placental, pelvic floor, and fetal tissue evaluations. In the cervix, sonoelastography aids in predicting preterm birth and assessing labor induction success.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to evaluate the role of Liver Stiffness Measurement (LSM) and serum transaminase levels for predicting early allograft failure (EAF) after liver transplantation (LT).
Methods: A total of 189 patients who underwent LT were prospectively recruited in the study. Of these patients, 13 cases died or received re-transplantation within 90 days after surgery were classified as EAF group, while rest 176 patients were included in the non-EAF group.
