Background: Though Internet gaming disorder (IGD) is considered to share similar genetic vulnerability with substance addictions, little has been explored about the role of the genetic variants on IGD. This pilot study was designed to investigate the association of the polymorphism of the ankyrin repeat and kinase domain containing 1 () gene and and -  of the dopamine D2 receptor () with IGD and their role on the personality and temperament traits in IGD among adult population.

Methods: Sixty-three subjects with IGD and 87 control subjects who regularly played Internet games were recruited. Self-administered questionnaires on self-control, dysfunctional impulsivity, and temperament and character domains were done. The and the and -  from the genes were genotyped using the specific TaqMan PCR assay.

Results: The distributions of allele and genotype frequencies were not significantly different between the IGD and control groups in both genders. In male, excessive gaming and use of gaming to escape from a negative feeling were associated with the genotype of the - . Among IGD, the + genotype was associated with higher novelty seeking. Logistic regression showed no predictive value of these polymorphisms for IGD when using age and gender as covariates.

Conclusions: Though no direct association of the and variants with IGD were observed, the -  polymorphism may play a role in IGD via mediating symptoms or temperament traits.

Objective: Nephrotic syndrome, a debilitating manifestation of kidney disease, often arises from diverse glomerular disorders and is accompanied by notable comorbidities. Despite indications of an immunological etiology, the precise role of immune cells in its pathogenesis remains unclear. This study aimed to elucidate the causal relationships between circulating immune cell phenotypes and nephrotic syndrome using a rigorous bidirectional Mendelian randomization approach.

Background: COVID-19, caused by SARS-CoV-2, has had a significant impact on global health. While the virus primarily affects the respiratory system, the intricate interplay between immune cells and the virus remains poorly understood. This study investigates the causal relationship between 731 immune cell phenotypes and COVID-19 using Mendelian randomization analysis.

Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) are chronic hematological disorders marked by the abnormal proliferation of bone marrow cells. The most commonly encountered forms are polycythemia vera (PV), primary myelofibrosis (PMF), and essential thrombocythemia (ET). These disorders are generally associated with increases in blood components, which can lead to conditions like splenomegaly, thrombosis, bleeding tendencies, and a heightened risk of progressing to acute leukemia.

Objective: This systematic review aimed to analyze the literature on changes in endogenous salivary biomarkers of pain, anxiety, stress, and inflammation related to tooth movement during orthodontic treatment of children and adolescents.

Material And Methods: An electronic search was performed in nine databases to identify quasi-experimental studies, without restricting publication language and year. Two reviewers extracted the data and assessed the individual risk of bias using the JBI tools, and the certainty of evidence using the GRADE tool.
