We explore the use of orbital-angular-momentum (OAM)-multiplexing to increase the capacity of free-space data transmission to moving platforms, with an added potential benefit of decreasing the probability of data intercept. Specifically, we experimentally demonstrate and characterize the performance of an OAM-multiplexed, free-space optical (FSO) communications link between a ground transmitter and a ground receiver via a moving unmanned-aerial-vehicle (UAV). We achieve a total capacity of 80 Gbit/s up to 100-m-roundtrip link by multiplexing 2 OAM beams, each carrying a 40-Gbit/s quadrature-phase-shift-keying (QPSK) signal. Moreover, we investigate for static, hovering, and moving conditions the effects of channel impairments, including: misalignments, propeller-induced airflows, power loss, intermodal crosstalk, and system bit error rate (BER). We find the following: (a) when the UAV hovers in the air, the power on the desired mode fluctuates by 2.1 dB, while the crosstalk to the other mode is -19 dB below the power on the desired mode; and (b) when the UAV moves in the air, the power fluctuation on the desired mode increases to 4.3 dB and the crosstalk to the other mode increases to -10 dB. Furthermore, the channel crosstalk decreases with an increase in OAM mode spacing.

In order to achieve high accuracy in interferometric direction-finding systems, antennas with a stable phase center in the working bandwidth are required. This article proposes a miniaturized loaded open-boundary quad-ridge horn (LOQRH) antenna with dimensions of 40 mm × 40 mm × 49 mm. First, to stabilize the phase center of the antenna, the design builds on the foundation of a quad-ridge horn antenna, where measures such as optimizing the ridge structure and introducing resistive loading were implemented to achieve size reduction.

Creating and maintaining a favorable microenvironment for electrocatalytic CO reduction reaction (eCORR) is challenging due to the vigorous interactions with both gas and electrolyte solution during the electrocatalysis. Herein, to boost the performance of eCORR, a unique synthetic method that deploys the in situ reduction of precoated precursors is developed to produce activated Ag nanoparticles (NPs) within the gas diffusion layer (GDL), where the thus-obtained Ag NPs-Skeleton can block direct contact between the active Ag sites and electrolyte. Specifically, compared to the conventional surface loading mode in the acidic media, our freestanding and binder free electrode can achieve obvious higher CO selectivity of 94%, CO production rate of 23.

Cooperative formation flight of multiple aerial robotic vehicles (ARVs) is extensively adopted in emergency rescue and collaborative transport. But the time-varying complex disturbances are inevitable in the cooperative formation flight of multiple ARVs, which can affect the formation stability of multi-ARV systems. This paper investigates the robust formation control problems for multiple ARVs with time-varying disturbances.

The utilization of dual-working-electrode mode of interdigitated array (IDA) electrodes and other two-electrode systems has revolutionized electrochemical detection by enabling the simultaneous and independent detection of two species, accompanied by the exhibition of unique characteristics. In contrast to conventional dual-potential electrodes, such as the rotating ring disk electrodes (RRDE), IDA electrodes demonstrate analogous yet vastly improved performance, characterized by remarkable collection efficiency and sensitivity. Notably, due to the distinctive microscale structure of IDA electrode, the special "feedback" effect makes IDA a unique signal amplifier.
