N-term 2017 was the first international meeting to bring together researchers from diverse disciplines with a shared interest in protein N-terminal modifications and the N-end rule pathway of ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis, providing a platform for interdisciplinary cross-kingdom discussions and collaborations, as well as strengthening the visibility of this growing scientific community.

Foot and mouth disease is a livestock acute disease, causing economic losses in affected areas. Currently, control of this disease is performed by mandatory vaccination campaigns using inactivated viral vaccines. In this work, we describe the development of a chimeric VLP-based vaccine candidate for foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV), based on the co-expression of the HIV-1 Gag protein and a novel fusion rabies glycoprotein (RVG), which carries in its N-term the FMDV main antigen: the G-H loop.

Objective: To compare and contrast EQ-5D-5L (5L) and EQ-5D-3L (3L) health state values derived from a common sample.
Methods: Data from the 2017 US EQ-5D valuation study were analyzed. Value sets were estimated with random-effects linear regression based on composite time trade-off (cTTO) valuations for 3L and 5L health states with 2 approaches to model specification: main effects only and additional N3/N45 terms.

The Polo kinase is a master regulator of mitosis and cytokinesis conserved from yeasts to humans. Polo is composed of an N-term kinase domain (KD) and a C-term polo-box domain (PBD), which regulates its subcellular localizations. The PBD and KD can interact and inhibit each other, and this reciprocal inhibition is relieved when Polo is phosphorylated at its activation loop.
