Background: The disinfectants polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB) and 1-bromo-3-chloro-5,5-dimethylimidazolidine-2,4-dione (BCDMH) each have limitations. So far, their combined usage has not been examined. In this study, the fungicidal activity of combined disinfectant using PHMB and BCDMH, named PB, against was evaluated.
Methods: Suspension quantitative fungicidal test and viable fungi count were used to test fungicidal effects against . Coupon corrosion testing was used to evaluate disinfectants' corrosive effects on stainless steel, copper, and aluminum. The mouse lymphoma assay was used to detect mutations induced by PB.
Results And Discussion: Fungicidal activity of the combination of 40 mg/L PHMB and 40 mg/L BCDMH was comparable to, or even better than, those of 600 mg/L PHMB or 640 mg/L BCDMH alone. The combination of 400 mg/L PHMB and 400 mg/L BCDMH exhibited good fungicidal effects in field applications. The combination of 100 mg/L PHMB and 100 mg/L BCDMH did not have corrosive effects on stainless steel and no mutagenic effect was observed under the test conditions.
Conclusions: The combination of PHMB and BCDMH has strong fungicidal effects and little metal corrosive and mutagenic effect and can be used as one suitable fungicide for wide household and industrial applications, including shipping containers.

Molds are persistent and harmful but receive far less research attention compared with pathogenic bacteria. With the increase in microbial resistance to single-chain surfactant antimicrobial agents, it is crucial to investigate how surfactant structures affect the antimicrobial activity of surfactants. Here, we have studied the antimold efficacy of a series of oligomeric cationic quaternary ammonium surfactants at varying oligomerization levels with or without dynamic covalent imine bonds.

With the US Environment Protection Agency reducing requests for (and funding of) mammalian studies alongside the proposed elimination of requests by 2035, there is an urgent need for fully validated New Approach Methods (NAMs) to fill the resultant gap for safety assessment of agrochemicals. One promising NAM for assessing the potential for human prenatal developmental toxicity potential is the Zebrafish Embryo Developmental Toxicity Assessment, a bioassay that has been used by the pharmaceutical industry for more than a decade in early-stage drug safety assessment. Despite its promise, little data has been generated to assess the validity of ZEDTA for assessing Developmental and Reproductive Toxicity of new agrochemical products.

Background: Cercospora leaf spot (CLS), caused by Cercospora beticola, is the most destructive foliar disease in sugar beet. CLS is conventionally controlled with fungicide, but the emergence of fungicide-resistant populations reinforces the importance of developing and cultivating resistant varieties. Understanding the dynamics of CLS in different varieties is hence essential for sustainable CLS management.

A total of 38 new benzohydrazide derivatives bearing the 4-aminoquinazoline moiety were designed and synthesized based on the active subunit combination approach and tested in detail for their inhibition activities against eight agricultural phytopathogenic fungi. The bioassay results indicated that many of the synthesized compounds exhibited extraordinary fungicidal activities in vitro against the tested fungi. For example, compounds , , , and had EC (half-maximal effective concentration) values of 0.

As the world's population grows, pursuing sustainable agricultural production techniques to increase crop yields is critical to ensuring global food security. The development and application of biological agents is of great significance in promoting the sustainable development of agriculture. This study aimed to investigate the role of JZ (compound microbial agent) and MZ (biological agent made from plant materials) in improving the rhizosphere microecological environment and nutrient availability for rice.
