The aim of the research was to study the pathogenetic features of the development of the overactive bladder (OAB) in women. 107 women with OAB and a control group of 29 healthy women were involved into the study. The hormonal status was studied based on the determination of serum concentrations of luteinizing hormone (LH), stimulating hormone (FSH), estradiol and progesterone. The urine levels of interleukin-1β (IL-1β), interleukin-4 (IL-4), interleukin-8 (IL-8), tumor necrosis factor ά (TNF-ά) and macrophage chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1) were assessed. Decreased level of estradiol was detected in 26.47% of women of reproductive age. Elevated urine levels of MCP-1 and IL-8 were found in 35.5% of patients. The obtained data testify to the possible pathogenetic role of inflammatory changes in the bladder wall, as well as hypoestrogenism in women of reproductive age in the development of OAB.

Introduction: The present study aimed to explore the epidemiologic threats and factors associated with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-associated mucormycosis (CAM) epidemic that emerged in Egypt during the second COVID-19 wave. The study also aimed to explore the diagnostic features and the role of surgical interventions of CAM on the outcome of the disease in a central referral hospital.

Methodology: The study included 64 CAM patients from a referral hospital for CAM and a similar number of matched controls from COVID-19 patients who did not develop CAM.

Blood-based epigenome-wide association study and prediction of alcohol consumption.

Alcohol consumption is an important risk factor for multiple diseases. It is typically assessed via self-report, which is open to measurement error through recall bias. Instead, molecular data such as blood-based DNA methylation (DNAm) could be used to derive a more objective measure of alcohol consumption by incorporating information from cytosine-phosphate-guanine (CpG) sites known to be linked to the trait.

Background: Microsatellites are highly polymorphic repeat sequences ubiquitously interspersed throughout almost all genomes which are widely used as powerful molecular markers in diverse fields. Microsatellite expansions play pivotal roles in gene expression regulation and are implicated in various neurological diseases and cancers. Although much effort has been devoted to developing efficient tools for microsatellite identification, there is still a lack of a powerful tool for large-scale microsatellite analysis.

Background: Rex rabbit is famous for its silky and soft fur coat, a characteristic predominantly attributed to its hair follicles. Numerous studies have confirmed the crucial roles of mRNAs and non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) in regulating key cellular processes such as cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis and immunity. However, their involvement in the regulation of the hair cycle in Rex rabbits remains unknown.

The extent and timescale of climate change impacts remain uncertain, including global temperature increase, sea level rise, and more frequent and intense extreme events. Uncertainties are compounded by cascading effects. Nevertheless, decision-makers must take action.
