The aim of this study was to evaluate the amount of leached residual monomers from self-adhesive resin cements and evaluate their toxicity in-vitro. A total of 60 disk-shaped specimens (5 mm in diameter and 0.5 mm in thickness) were prepared from each cement (RelyX U200, SpeedCEM, G-Cem) (n=20). Specimens were immersed in artificial saliva and the amount of released monomers [urethane dimethacrylate (UDMA) and triethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA)] was identified. Then, the cytotoxicity and genotoxicity effect on cells were evaluated using the defined amounts of released monomers from cements. The highest monomer release was detected in G-Cem (p<0.05). The highest cytotoxicity value was identified from SpeedCEM (p<0.01) and the highest genotoxicity values were calculated from RelyX U200 (p<0.05). Released UDMA and TEGDMA from self-adhesive resin cements induced cytotoxicity and genotoxicity effect on cells.

Background: Chronic stress has been linked to an increased risk for various health issues, including Alzheimer's disease (AD). While novel therapies for AD have improved disease prognosis, a deeper understanding of the link between stress and AD may delineate potential novel preventative treatments. Within the stress system, corticotrophin-releasing factor receptor 1 (CRFR1) has been shown to influence AD pathological hallmarks.

Cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) technology has begun to be adopted for drinking water pipe repairs, and limited information exists about its drinking water quality impacts. CIPP involves the manufacture of a new plastic pipe inside a buried damaged pipe. In this study, the chemical composition of the raw materials and CIPP water quality impacts were examined.

A novel polyimide-bridge covalent organic framework-based (PI-COF) hybrid was synthesized through simple green chemistry between PI-COF and MCM-NH monomers as a pH-sensitive anticancer curcumin (C) delivery system. The synthesized nanohybrid was crystalline in nature with an improved surface area and pore volume compared to the base COF, certified by powder X-ray diffraction spectroscopy and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller technique. Kinetically controlled and sustained curcumin release profiles were investigated using the as-prepared curcumin-loaded drug delivery systems (C@DDSs) in neutral and acidic pH media.

The complex pathology of Parkinson's disease (PD) requires comprehensive understanding and multi-pronged interventions for communication between nerve cells. Despite new developments in nanotechnology in the treatment of PD, in-depth exploration of their biological effects, in particular, the specific mechanisms of inflammation inhibition are lacking. Herein, using the stable cascade catalysis channel formed by polydopamine (PDA), imidazole groups, and Cu ions, a microgel system comprising functional monomers [superoxide dismutase (SOD) with double bonds, PDA, 2-methacryloyloxy ethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC), and Cu ions] is proposed for managing PD.

Adhesive hydrogels have been widely studied as wound dressings due to their excellent biocompatibility and biological activity. However, most designed hydrogels still exist limitations including potentially toxic monomer, complex preparation process and non-degradable property. Here, a natural and degradable gelatin/casein hydrogel was prepared by enzymatic cross-linking.
