The nuclear matrix elements for the spin operator and the momentum quadrupole operator are important for the interpretation of precision atomic physics experiments that search for violations of local Lorentz and CPT symmetry and for new spin-dependent forces. We use the configuration-interaction nuclear shell model and self-consistent mean-field theory to calculate the momentum matrix elements for ^{21}Ne, ^{23}Na, ^{133}Cs, ^{173}Yb, and ^{201}Hg. We show that these momentum matrix are strongly suppressed by the many-body correlations, in contrast to the well-known enhancement of the spatial quadrupole nuclear matrix elements.

Particle emissions study from tire sample with nano-silver tracer from different steps of its life cycle. A new approach to trace emissions of tire microparticles.

Direction Milieux et impacts sur le vivant, Institut National de l'Environnement Industriel et des Risques (INERIS), Verneuil en Halatte, France.

Emissions due to tires retread/repair and incineration are a cause of concern owing to the presence of nanoparticles in the products. The assessment exposure to humans hereto related is a challenge in an environmental context. The first object of this work is to develop a method to characterize the emission sources using online (counting and sizing) and offline measurements.

Objective: To apply a network medicine-based approach to analyze the phenome of the prenatal fetal MRI and biometric findings in the Chiari II malformation (CM II) to detect specific patterns and co-occurrences.

Method: A single-center retrospective review of fetal MRI scans obtained in fetuses with CM II was performed. Co-occurrence analysis was utilized to generate a phenotypic comorbidity matrix and visualized by Gephi software.

A fast BEM (boundary element method) based approach is developed to solve an EEG/MEG forward problem for a modern high-resolution head model. The method utilizes a charge-based BEM accelerated by the fast multipole method (BEM-FMM) with an adaptive mesh pre-refinement method (called b-refinement) close to the singular dipole source(s). No costly matrix-filling or direct solution steps typical for the standard BEM are required; the method generates on-skin voltages as well as MEG magnetic fields for high-resolution head models within 90 seconds after initial model assembly using a regular workstation.

Article Synopsis
  • Dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) and quantum technologies utilize the spin transfer in electron-nuclear quantum systems, but larger couplings like hyperfine interactions can hinder these processes.
  • The Schrieffer-Wolff transformation is applied to analyze a system of two electrons and two nuclei, focusing on polarization-transfer methods, including an energy-conserving electron-nuclear four-spin flip-flop.
  • The study connects magnetic resonance and quantum information, demonstrating a model where all nuclear spins can aid in hyperpolarization without being impeded by a spin diffusion barrier in DNP.

Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Animal Resistance Biology, Key Laboratory of Food Nutrition and Safety of Shandong, College of Life Science, Normal University, Shandong Normal University, Jinan, 250014, People's Republic of China.

A composite nanomaterial of Prussian blue@gold nanoparticles (PB@Au) with catalytic and photothermal properties was proposed, which combined with anti-matrix interference aptamers to achieve robust specificity and sensitivity in the detection of Salmonella typhimurium (S. typhimurium). The detection probe, PB@Au-Aptamer (PB@Au-Apt), was designed to exhibit high specificity for the target and catalyze the signal generation to produce a color change, thereby enabling rapid detection.
