In the present study, we have reported an eco-friendly, rapid, and simple method for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using Bauhinia purpurea flower extract as non-toxic bioreducing agent. The formation of AgNPs was confirmed by UV-visible spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The synthesized AgNPs were spherical in shape with an average size of 20 nm. Furthermore, the antibacterial activities of the synthesized AgNPs (2-10 mM) against clinical pathogens, Klebsiella sp. and Staphylococcus sp., were evaluated under in vitro conditions.

The formation of novel complexes from so far non-investigated ligands and different metal centers is important for the development of new functional materials such as (photo)catalysts or biologically active compounds. Still, promising strategies to quickly and systematically investigate the complexation behavior of selected ligands are rare. We developed an NMR-based screening approach to monitor changes within reaction mixtures containing metals and ligands on a small scale a simple but reliable protocol.

Atomically precise silver-based bimetallic clusters for electrocatalytic urea synthesis.

Natl Sci Rev

Henan Key Laboratory of Crystalline Molecular Functional Materials, College of Chemistry, Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou 450001, China.

Electrocatalytic urea synthesis from CO and nitrate holds immense promise as a sustainable strategy, but its complicated synthesis steps and controversial C-N coupling mechanism restrict the design of efficient catalysts. Atomically precise metal cluster materials are ideal model catalysts for investigating the C-N coupling issues. Here we synthesize two atomically precise bimetallic clusters, AgPd(PTFE)(TPP) and AgAu(PTFE)(DPPP), both with icosahedral cores and similar ligands.

Introduction: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease characterized by articular cartilage degeneration. Chondrocyte inflammation, apoptosis, and extracellular matrix degradation accelerated OA progression. MicroRNA (miRNA) has the potential to be a therapeutic method for osteoarthritis.

The montmorillonite@iron oxide@silver (MMT@FeO@Ag) nanocomposite, which is recyclable and exhibits high catalytic activity, was evaluated for the degradation of methyl yellow (MY), a carcinogenic azo dye. For this purpose, MMT@FeO was first synthesized via the coprecipitation method and then Ag was doped to MMT@FeO via the chemical reduction method. MMT, MMT@FeO, and MMT@FeO@Ag were characterized by various techniques including scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, vibrating sample magnetometer, and thermal gravimetric analysis.

In this study, four novels 2,5,6-trisubstituted imidazothiadiazole derivative ligands and their Ag(I) complexes were synthesized and characterized using various spectroscopic analysis techniques. First, imidazo[2,1-b][1,3,4]thiadiazole derivative (3) was obtained from the reaction of 5-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-thiol with benzyl bromide in the presence of KOH in an ethanolic medium. In the next step, the resultant compound reacted sequentially with four substituted phenacyl bromide derivatives (4a-4d) under refluxed ethanol for 24 h to obtain substituted 2-(benzylthio)-6-phenylimidazo[2,1-b][1,3,4]thiadiazole derivatives (5-8).
