High energy consumption remains to be a key problem for application of membrane bioreactor (MBR). Optimization of MBR to save energy requires a compressive understanding of the performance of the reactor, among which the mixing performance is a significant parameter, however received little attention. In this study, a tracer experiment was carried out in a full-scale MBR for municipal wastewater treatment in China. The mixing performance of both the entire plant and the membrane tanks were evaluated. The entire plant was found to be a cascade of 2.15 continuous stirred tank reactors (CSTRs) with 8.02% of dead zones. The membrane tanks were also found to deviate from CSTR. The mixing energy was analyzed and compared with literature data from three aspects: the specific power used per unit of tank volume (P), per unit of permeate volume (P), and per unit of membrane area (P).

Professional work in healthcare is increasingly disruptive, requiring professionals to be flexible and adaptable. Research on adaptive expertise and adaptive performance in healthcare has grown, and operationalisation and measurement of these concepts are crucial to meet professionals' evolving needs. This study provides an overview of measurement instruments for adaptive expertise and adaptive performance in (becoming) healthcare professionals, including an evaluation of their operationalisations and the amount of evidence supporting their quality.

Objectives: This study aims to review the societal, economic, and racial factors that impact the usage of spinal cord stimulation for chronic pain. Our working hypothesis is that patients of ethnic minority groups or of lower socioeconomic status (SES) status may have lower implantation rates and usage of spinal cord stimulation (SCS).

Materials And Methods: Our study sourced publications from PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library on December 21st, 2023 for SCS for the purposes of pain management.

Background: Concept maps are a suitable method for teaching clinical reasoning (CR). For example, in a concept map, findings, tests, differential diagnoses, and treatment options can be documented and connected to each other. When combined with virtual patients, automated feedback can be provided to the students' concept maps.

Background: The lifestyle intervention ProMuscle, which combines resistance exercise and an increased protein intake, was effective in improving muscle strength, muscle mass, and physical functioning in older adults. However, due to a growing shortage of health care professionals, the rapidly growing aging population cannot be personally guided in the future. Therefore, Uni2Move, a scalable web-based variant of ProMuscle, was designed to reach larger groups of older adults without putting additional burden on health care professionals.
