During financial decision-making tasks, humans often make "rational" decisions, where they maximize expected reward. However, this rationality may compete with a bias that reflects past outcomes. That is, if one just lost money or won money, this may impact future decisions. It is unclear how past outcomes influence future decisions in humans, and how neural circuits encode present and past information. In this study, six human subjects performed a financial decision-making task while we recorded local field potentials from multiple brain structures. We constructed a model for each subject characterizing bets on each trial as a function of present and past information. The models suggest that some patients are more influenced by previous trial outcomes (i.e., previous return and risk) than others who stick to more fixed decision strategies. In addition, past return and present risk modulated with the activity in the cuneus; while present return and past risk modulated with the activity in the superior temporal gyrus and the angular gyrus, respectively. Our findings suggest that these structures play a role in decision-making beyond their classical functions by incorporating predictions and risks in humans' decision strategy, and provide new insight into how humans link their internal biases to decisions.

Coral reefs can mitigate flood damages by providing protection to tropical coastal communities whose populations are dense, growing fast, and have predominantly lower-middle income. This study provides the first fine-scale, regionally modeled valuations of how flood risk reductions associated with hybrid coral reef restoration could benefit people, property, and economic activity along Florida and Puerto Rico's 1005 kilometers of reef-lined coasts. Restoration of up to 20% of the regions' coral reefs could provide flood reduction benefits greater than costs.

The purpose of this systematic review was to evaluate the role of PSMA PET/CT in intermediate-risk prostate cancer (PCa) patients, to determine whether it could help improve treatment strategy and prognostic stratification. A systematic literature search up to May 2024 was conducted in the PubMed, Embase and Scopus databases. Articles with mixed risk patient populations, review articles, editorials, letters, comments, or case reports were excluded.

Objective: To assess performance of an algorithm for automated grading of surgery-related adverse events (AEs) according to Clavien-Dindo (C-D) classification.
Summary Background Data: Surgery-related AEs are common, lead to increased morbidity for patients, and raise healthcare costs. Resource-intensive manual chart review is still standard and to our knowledge algorithms using electronic health record (EHR) data to grade AEs according to C-D classification have not been explored.

India is anticipated to grow its total energy consumption and CO emissions by more than any other country over the next two decades. India will have to attract around $400 billion in financing to realize its 500 GW target of renewable energy by 2030. Given complex renewable energy sector risks, rapidly scaling-up risk-friendly private equity financing will be critical to achieve India's target.

In order to solve the engineering problem of a large amount of wind leakage in the 8106 comprehensive mining working face of the Carboniferous System under the influence of overlapping mining of two coal seams in Yongdingzhuang Mine, Datong Mining Area, this paper utilizes finite element numerical simulation software to study the wind leakage characteristics of the 8106 working face and the distribution range of the spontaneous combustion "three zones" of the mining area. The results show that, under the condition of external air leakage, the internal pressure of the goaf is greater than the external pressure, the upper pressure is greater than the lower pressure, and the seepage direction is from the top down and from the inside out. Under the condition of no external air leakage, the air leakage source is mainly concentrated in the air inlet lane.
