Ocular sympathetic function was studied in 13 cluster headache patients during and between attacks and several weeks or months after attacks had subsided. The pupillary response to tyramine eyedrops and facial sweating and flushing in response to body heating and to the taste of chilies were also investigated during remission. Pupillary dilatation lag on the symptomatic side persisted between bouts and correlated significantly with loss of thermoregulatory sweating in the lower part of the forehead.
