Article Abstract

Abstract: This report describes the application of LC-MS/MS for the separation of dodecanol (COH) and homogenous fatty alcohols ethoxylated (AE) containing a dodecyl moiety and 1-9 ethoxy groups. These ethoxylates and free alcohol were derivatized for LC-MS/MS analysis with phenyl isocyanate (PIC). The derivatives of analytes with PIC were separated using a C18 column. Gradient elution with a mixture of ethyl acetate and acetonitrile (5 mM) was employed. The described determination method is characterized by low detection limits (range from 0.005 µg L for: COH, CEO to 1 µg L for CEO) and quantification limits (range from 0.01 µg L for: CEO to 2 µg L for CEO). The developed and validated method was used in combination with liquid-liquid extraction (using ethyl acetate) in order to identify and quantitatively determine the COH and CEO present in environmental samples collected from Warta river water in Poznan.

Recent experiments in polariton chemistry indicate that reaction rates can be significantly enhanced or suppressed inside an optical cavity. One possible explanation for the rate modulation involves the cavity mode altering the intramolecular vibrational energy redistribution (IVR) pathways by coupling to specific molecular vibrations in the vibrational strong coupling (VSC) regime. However, the mechanism for such a cavity-mediated modulation of IVR is yet to be understood.

Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Research and Application Center & Composite Technologies Center of Excellence, Sabanci University, Istanbul 34906, Turkey.

This study investigates the formulation and curing behavior of a one-component epoxy resin (OCER). The OCER was formulated using phenylurea propyl imidazole (PUPI) as a thermal latent curing agent and diglycidylether bisphenol A (DGEBA). PUPI was synthesized by reacting phenyl isocyanate with 1-(3-aminopropyl)imidazole and characterized using H NMR, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).

Carbodiimides are important crosslinkers in organic synthesis and are used in the isocyanate industry as modifier additives. Therefore, the understanding of their formation is of high importance. In this work, we present a theoretical B3LYP/6-31G(d) and SMD solvent model and experimental investigation of the formation of diphenylcarbodiimide (CDI) from phenyl isocyanate using a phosphorus-based catalyst (MPPO) in ortho-dichlorobenzene (ODCB) solvent.
