Purpose: To explore the factors affecting soft tissue infection after oral and maxillofacial debridement.

Methods: Fifty hundred patients with debridement were enrolled in this study from January 2013 to June 2016. The patients were divided into 2 groups according to soft tissue infection, 18 cases in infection group and 482 cases in non-infection group. Age, mean time to surgery, average length of stay, duration of antibiotics use, abbreviated injury scale (AIS), combined injuries, maxillofacial fractures, soft tissue injury, type of fracture, and history of diabetes were recorded and analyzed using SPSS 19.0 software package.

Results: The factors influencing soft tissue infection after oral and maxillofacial surgery were the aged, longer hospital stay, longer operation time, longer antibiotics use time, higher AIS score, Jaw bone injury and diabetes.

Conclusions: The factors influencing soft tissue infection after oral and maxillofacial debridement are various. The aged, longer operation time, higher AIS score, jaw bone involvement lip and chin injury as well as diabetes might be the independent factors. Health care providers should give preventive measures to reduce the incidence of infection, according to specific factors.

Dematiaceous molds often cause noninvasive disease but have the potential to cause disseminated infection, particularly in immunosuppressed hosts. is the most neurotropic of dematiaceous molds and is associated with brain abscesses, but disseminated infection is quite rare. Here we present a case of disseminated in a 67-year-old renal transplant recipient with multifocal soft tissue, bone and presumed central nervous system involvement.

Soft tissue sarcomas (STSs) are rare malignancies, with retroperitoneal soft tissue sarcoma (RPS) constituting 10%-15% of all STSs. RPS often presents late due to minimal early symptoms, typically requiring complete en-bloc resection for optimal survival outcomes. Achieving radical resection can be challenging due to the tumor's proximity to vital organs.

Hydrogels are popular platforms for cell encapsulation in biomedicine and tissue engineering due to their soft, porous structures, high water content, and excellent tunability. Recent studies highlight that the timing of network formation can be just as important as mechanical properties in influencing cell morphologies. Conventionally, time-dependent properties can be achieved through multi-step processes.

Three-dimensional (3D) modeling is often used to provide better visual understanding. This has become an everyday tool especially in medical imaging. However, modeling soft tissue histopathology in 3D is in its early stages, thus making 3D comparison between radiology and histopathology difficult.
