The release of synaptic vesicles (SVs) at the synaptic junction is a complex process involving various specialized proteins that work in unison. Among these, Bassoon has emerged as a significant protein, particularly noted for its association with various neurological and aging-related diseases. Due to its structural and functional roles, Bassoon has become a focus of recent research, especially in understanding its implications in neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders.

Hemispheric asymmetries in episodic memory.

Handb Clin Neurol

March 2025

Laboratory of Neuropsychology of Memory, IRCSS Santa Lucia Foundation, Rome, Italy; Department of Systems Medicine, Tor Vergata University, Rome, Italy. Electronic address:

The term "episodic memory" refers to our ability to remember past personal experiences. This ability is severely disrupted following bilateral damage to a dedicated neural substrate located symmetrically in the mesial temporal lobes. Milder deficits are also observed following unilateral damage to the same structures.

Unveiling the hemispheric specialization of language: Organization and neuroplasticity.

Handb Clin Neurol

March 2025

Université Grenoble Alpes, Université Savoie Mont Blanc, CNRS, LPNC, Grenoble, France. Electronic address:

The advancements in understanding hemispheric specialization of language (HSL) have been following two primary avenues: the development of neuroimaging techniques and the study of its reorganizations in patients with various neuropathologic conditions. Hence, the objectives of this chapter are twofold. First, to provide an overview of the key neuroimaging techniques employed to investigate HSL, along with the notable findings derived from them in the healthy population.

Seizures Associated with Autoimmune Disorders - Current Treatment Approaches.

Semin Neurol

March 2025

Epilepsy Division, Department of Neurology, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota.

Autoimmune-associated seizures and epilepsy are increasingly recognized in clinical practice and can arise in the setting of acute encephalitis but in some cases may present with chronic focal epilepsy. These conditions are usually resistant to antiseizure therapy but may respond definitively to timely immunotherapy. Early diagnosis and treatment are critical to minimize neural injury and optimize outcomes.

Excellent Clinical and Radiological Mid-term Outcomes of the Arthroscopic "Double-Inlay" Eden-Hybinette Procedure for Bone Defects Exceeding 20%: A 5-Year Case Series.

J Shoulder Elbow Surg

March 2025

Department of Sports Medicine, Peking University Third Hospital, Institute of Sports Medicine of Peking University, Beijing, China; Beijing Key Laboratory of Sports Injuries, Beijing, China; Engineering Research Center of Sports Trauma Treatment Technology and Devices, Ministry of Education, Beijing, China. Electronic address:

Background: Eden-Hybinette procedure can maximize the restoration of the glenoid defect by harvesting a proper size of iliac bone block. We developed an arthroscopic "double-inlay" Eden-Hybinette procedure to achieve better bone union of the graft. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiological mid-term outcomes of the arthroscopic "double-inlay" Eden-Hybinette procedure for bone defects exceeding 20%.
