Spontaneous bilateral ectopic gestation is very rare. The authors report a case diagnosed and taken care of at Yalgado Ouedraogo Teaching Hospital, Ouagadougou. It was a 30-year-old patient with no known pathological history. She had presented at the obstetric emergencies with a state of hypovolemic shock by haemoperitoneum with digestive disorders, pelvic pain, vaginal bleeding, and a mention of delayed menstruation. The ultrasound coupled with the urinary immunological pregnancy test confirmed the diagnosis of ruptured ectopic pregnancy and a bilateral form was suspected. A laparotomy in emergency confirmed the diagnosis of bilateral ectopic gestation with a right ampullary unruptured pregnancy and a left isthmic ruptured gestation. A bilateral salpingectomy was performed and counseling was made for the use of medical help of procreation in case of future need of pregnancy.

Cushing syndrome due to ectopic adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) secretion (EAS) is rare and may progress rapidly, making treatment very challenging. We report a 27-year-old woman with metastatic neuroendocrine tumor (NET) who presented with sudden onset and rapidly progressing fatigue, muscle weakness, and weight gain. Laboratory findings confirmed severe EAS with new onset hypocalcemia, hypokalemia, and hyperglycemia.

Endometrioma is a localized form of endometriosis, usually found within the ovaries bilaterally, containing degenerated blood products resulting from bleeding of ectopic endometriotic tissue at different ages. Rupture of the endometrioma is a rare complication that may result in hemoperitoneum and peritonitis and thus presents similarly to other more common abdominal emergencies, and the concomitant presence of a ruptured endometrioma and another abdominal emergency, although exceptional, remains possible. Ultrasonography and sectional imaging can be used to assess a diagnosis that is often confirmed postoperatively.

Background: Heterotopic ossification is a common complication after joint replacement surgery, such as hip or knee arthroplasty. In the intensive care unit, it is most commonly associated with traumatic brain injury or spinal cord injury. To prevent recurrence, surgical resection of heterotopic ossification is recommended once the ectopic bone has fully matured, which is estimated to occur after at least 12 months.

Emerging evidence suggests the serine protease, urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA), may play an important role in the modulation of mood and cognitive functions. Also, preliminary evidence indicates that uPA modulates BDNF activity that is known to be involved in the pathogenesis of mood disorders. However, the physiological functions of uPA in specific brain regions for mediating stress-related emotional behaviors remain to be elucidated.
