Applying enzymatic biocatalysts based on hexahistidine-containing organophosphorus hydrolase (His₆-OPH) is suggested for the decomposition of chlorpyrifos, which is actively used in agriculture in many countries. The application conditions were optimized and the following techniques was suggested to ensure the highest efficiency of the enzyme: first, the soil is alkalinized with hydrated calcitic lime Ca(OH)₂, then the enzyme is introduced into the soil at a concentration of 1000 U/kg soil. Non-equilibrium low temperature plasma (NELTP)-modified zeolite is used for immobilization of the relatively inexpensive polyelectrolyte complexes containing the enzyme His₆-OPH and a polyanionic polymer: poly-l-glutamic acid (PLE) or poly-l-aspartic acid (PLD). The soil's humidity is then increased up to 60-80%, the top layer (10-30 cm) of soil is thoroughly stirred, and then exposed for 48-72 h. The suggested approach ensures 100% destruction of the pesticide within 72 h in soils containing as much as 100 mg/kg of chlorpyrifos. It was concluded that using this type of His₆-OPH-based enzyme chemical can be the best approach for soils with relatively low humus concentrations, such as sandy and loam-sandy chestnut soils, as well as types of soil with increased alkalinity (pH 8.0-8.4). Such soils are often encountered in desert, desert-steppe, foothills, and subtropical regions where chlorpyrifos is actively used.

Prokaryotic heme biosynthesis in Gram-positive bacteria follows the coproporphyrin-dependent heme biosynthesis pathway. The last step in this pathway is catalyzed by the enzyme coproheme decarboxylase, which oxidatively transforms two propionate groups into vinyl groups yielding heme b. The catalytic reaction cycle of coproheme decarboxylases exhibits four different states: the apo-form, the substrate (coproheme)-bound form, a transient three-propionate intermediate form (monovinyl, monopropionate deuteroheme; MMD), and the product (heme b)-bound form.

Efficient degradation of lignocellulosic biomass is key for the production of value-added products, contributing to sustainable and renewable solutions. This study employs a two-step approach to evaluate lignocellulolytic enzymes of Ceratocystis paradoxa, Colletotrichum falcatum, and Sporisorium scitamineum. First, an in silico genomic analysis was conducted to predict the potential enzyme groups produced by these fungi.

Frost damage to apple flowers significantly affects both the quality and yield of apples, potentially leading to substantial economic losses. This study investigates the application of the environmentally friendly plant hormone 24-epibrassinolide (EBR) on apple flowers to assess its effects under frost stress conditions. The findings indicate that exogenous EBR treatment maintained favorable flower morphology, mitigated pistil browning, and reduced ion leakage.

Soil nitrogen (N) transformations control N availability and plant production and pose environmental concerns when N is lost, raising issues such as soil acidification, water contamination, and climate change. Former studies suggested that soil N cycling is chiefly regulated by microbial activity; however, emerging evidence indicates that this regulation is disrupted by heavy metal (HM) contamination, which alters microbial communities and enzyme functions critical to N transformations. Environmental factors like soil organic carbon, soil texture, water content, temperature, soil pH, N fertilization, and redox status play significant roles in modulating the response of soil N cycling to HM contamination.

Natural products and their derivatives are precious resources with extensive applications in various industrial fields. Enzymatic glycosylation is an efficient approach for chemical structure diversification and biological activity alternation of natural products. Herein, we reported a stereoselective glycosylation of complex natural product glycosides catalyzed by two carbohydrate-active enzymes (CAZys).
