Objective: To evaluate symptoms of stress and excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) in air traffic control (ATC) officers in Brazil.
Methods: Fifty-two ATC officers participated, based at three air traffic control units, identified as A, B and C. Stress symptoms were assessed using the Lipp Inventory of Stress Symptoms for Adults, and EDS by the Epworth Sleepiness Scale.
Results: The sample mean age was 37 years, 76.9% of whom were male. Excessive daytime sleepiness was identified in 25% of the ATC officers, with 84.6% of these based at air traffic control unit A, which has greater air traffic flow, operating a 24-hour alternating work shift schedule. A total of 16% of the ATC officers had stress symptoms, and of these, 62% showed a predominance of physical symptoms.
Conclusion: The high percentage of ATC officers with EDS identified in group A may be related to chronodisruption due to night work and alternating shifts.

This study explores the cobenefits of reduced nitrogen dioxide (NO), ozone (O), and particulate matter (PM), through net zero (NZ) climate policy in the UK. Two alternative NZ scenarios, the balanced net zero (BNZP) and widespread innovation (WI) pathways, from the UK Climate Change Committee's Sixth Carbon Budget, were examined using a chemical transport model (CTM). Under the UK existing policy, Business as Usual (BAU), reductions in NO and PM were predicted by 2030 due to new vehicle technologies but plateau by 2040.

Vehicle nitrogen oxides (NO) significantly increase nitrogen dioxide (NO) exposure in traffic-related environments. The NO/NO ratios are crucial for accurate NO modeling and are closely linked to public health concerns. In 2020, we used a mobile platform to follow test trucks (plume-chasing) that were installed with a portable emission measuring system (PEMS) on two restricted driving tracts.

Traffic-related air pollution (TRAP) has been linked with numerous respiratory diseases. Recently, lung microbiome is proposed to be characterized with development and progression of respiratory diseases. However, the underlying effects of TRAP exposure on lung microbiome are rarely explored.

The objective of this study was to estimate the health effects attributed to PM exposure in southwest of Iran. In order to estimate HA-CVD, HA-RD, LC-M, I-As in children, RAD, and WDL, the exposure-response function method was used. The annual mean of PM regularly exceeded 5.

Since 1999, every report released by the International Panel on Climate Change has advocated a decrease in the greenhouse gas emissions associated with aviation in order to preserve the current climate. This study used a two variable differential equations model with a non-linear control term to address several aspects of the emissions stabilization issue. By optimizing the control term parameter, several management alternatives can be obtained based on the properties of the phase plane of the model solutions, as identified by a stability analysis.
