Clinical indicators for nursing diagnosis Ineffective protection in adolescents with cancer.

Rev Bras Enferm

Universidade Federal do Ceará, Faculty of Pharmacy, Dentistry and Nursing, Postgraduate Program in Nursing. Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil.

Published: September 2018

Objective: To investigate scientific evidence related to the term protection and clinical indicators and etiologic factors for nursing diagnosis Ineffective protection in adolescents with cancer.

Method: Integrative literature review in the databases of Scopus, Web of Science, National Library of Medicine and National Institutes of Health (PubMed) and Cochrane; by intersection of the descriptors protection and childhood cancer, which resulted in seven articles. These were insufficient for a comprehension of the term protection and aspects related to its impairment, therefore it was necessary to include a further three reference books.

Results: Five clinical indicators and three etiologic factors associated to Ineffective protection were identified some of which were not cited in NANDA-International.

Conclusions: There are clinical and etiologic factors important for the identification of ineffective protection in adolescents with cancer.

Sulfate reducing bacteria corrosion of a 90/10 Cu-Ni alloy coupled to an Al sacrificial anode.

Bioelectrochemistry

December 2024

Marine Corrosion and Protection Team, School of Chemical Engineering and Technology (Zhuhai 519082), Sun Yat-sen University, China. Electronic address:

This study investigates the corrosion of 90/10 copper-nickel (Cu-Ni) alloy caused by sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) in the presence of aluminum anodes, with particular emphasis on the role of electron supply in microbial corrosion and the resulting local corrosion failures. The study reveals that the electron supply from the anode supports SRB growth on the Cu-Ni alloy through an "Electrons-siphoning" mechanism. However, the supply is insufficient to sustain the SRB population, resulting in ineffective cathodic protection (i = 2.

Computer Engineering Department, UET Taxila, Rawalpindi, Punjab, 47050, Pakistan.

IoT device security has become a major concern as a result of the rapid expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the growing adoption of cloud computing for central monitoring and management. In order to provide centrally managed services each IoT device have to connect to their respective High-Performance Computing (HPC) clouds. The ever increasing deployment of Internet of Things (IoT) devices linked to HPC clouds use various medium such as wired and wireless.

Does syndromic surveillance assist public health practice in early detecting respiratory epidemics? Evidence from a wide Italian retrospective experience.

J Infect Public Health

December 2024

First Division of Infectious Diseases, ASST Fatebenefratelli Sacco, Luigi Sacco Hospital, Milan, Italy; Centre for Multidisciplinary Research in Health Science (MACH), University of Milan, Italy.

Background: Large-scale diagnostic testing has been proven ineffective for prompt monitoring of the spread of COVID-19. Electronic resources may facilitate enhanced early detection of epidemics. Here, we aimed to retrospectively explore whether examining trends in the use of emergency and healthcare services and the Google search engine is useful in detecting Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus outbreaks early compared with the currently used swab-based surveillance system.

Neoadjuvant therapy (NAT) has been studied in clinically localized prostate cancer (PCa) to improve the outcomes from radical prostatectomy (RP) by 'debulking' of high-risk PCa; however, using androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) at this point risks castration resistant PCa (CRPC) clonal proliferation. Our goal is to identify alternative NAT that reduce hormone sensitive PCa (HSPC) without affecting androgen receptor (AR) transcriptional activity. PCa is associated with increased expression and activation of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) family, including HER2 and ErbB3.
