Palliative radiotherapy (RT) is prescribed to patients with bone metastases to alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life. The lack of consistent endpoints for such trials has made cross study comparison difficult and has led to contradictory conclusions. The International Bone Metastases Consensus Working Party was established to create a standard set of endpoints and recommendations for future clinical trials. Recommendations were included regarding eligibility criteria, pain assessments, follow-up assessments, timing, as well as radiation techniques. Suggestions were also made to facilitate the ease with which different studies could be compared as well as to encourage widespread consistency in certain aspects of trial design. Investigators conducting clinical trials in bone metastases should continue to adopt these recommendations to ensure consistent guidelines based on the most recent literature.

A 65-year-old man was admitted for a tissue biopsy of suspected right middle and lower lobe lung cancer with multiple bone metastases. Osteosarcoma, the most common primary bone tumor in young individuals, frequently metastasizes hematogenously to the lungs, necessitating pulmonary metastasectomy as a common surgical procedure. While sublobar and lobar resections are accepted approaches, pneumonectomy is considered a major intervention. In this report, we present 2 intriguing cases of patients who underwent pneumonectomy for pulmonary osteosarcoma metastases, emphasizing the challenges of careful patient selection and surgical planning.

Background: Cutaneous melanoma is the leading cause of death from cutaneous malignancy and tends to metastasize lymphatically and hematogenously to the lung, liver, brain, and bone; it is a rare source of metastatic disease to the eye. Herein we provide a case report of cutaneous melanoma metastatic to the ciliary body and choroid involving clinical examination, slit lamp photography, and B-scan ultrasonography.
Result: A 55-year-old female with known metastatic cutaneous melanoma presented with pain, a large ciliochoroidal mass, visual decline, and diffuse intraocular inflammation.
