Background: To determine whether there is correlation between magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings and breast elastography to differentiate seroma/hematoma from silicone-induced granuloma of breast implant capsule (SIGBIC).
Methods: Prospective study of 99 patients with breast implants submitted to breast MRI during the period from February 1 to May 1, 2017. Patients who present MRI findings of seroma/hematoma or SIGBIC were submitted to a complementary ultrasound elastography study to evaluate the correlation of the results. The criteria adopted for the diagnosis of granuloma by MRI were heterogeneous hypersignal in the T2-weighted sequences, late contrast enhancement, and black drop sign. Lesions that did not enhance after the use of contrast were considered as seroma/hematoma. By elastography, the results were considered positive for granuloma when presented as hard lesions, whereas seroma/hematoma presented as soft lesions.
Results: Of the 99 patients evaluated, 15 were included in the study. Of the 15 patients, 9 had solid intracapsular MRI masses, whereas 6 presented collections without contrast enhancement. The complementary elastography study showed correlation with MRI results in all cases of SIGBIC and seroma/hematoma, being elastography able to differentiate lesions from solid to cystic.
Conclusions: Elastography of intracapsular masses in breast implants presented results compatible with those found by MRI to differentiate solid lesions from collections.

Background: The study focuses on the use of multi-parametric ultrasound [gray scale, color Doppler and shear wave elastography (SWE)] to differentiate stable renal allografts from acute graft dysfunction and to assess time-dependent changes in parenchymal stiffness, thereby assessing its use as an efficient monitoring tool for ongoing graft dysfunction. To date, biopsy is the gold standard for evaluation of acute graft dysfunction. However, because it is invasive, it carries certain risks and cannot be used for follow-up monitoring.

Objectives: To evaluate the role of shear wave elastography (SWE) in distinguishing acute from subacute thrombi in thrombosed arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) and explore the relationship between thrombus stiffness and outcomes of balloon angioplasty.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective study included 44 dialysis patients with thrombosed AVFs from June 2022 to June 2024. Patients underwent Doppler ultrasound and SWE to assess thrombus age, followed by balloon angioplasty.

Vascular liver diseases (VLDs) include different pathological conditions that affect the liver vasculature at the level of the portal venous system, hepatic artery, or venous outflow system. Although serological investigations and sometimes histology might be required to clarify the underlying diagnosis, imaging has a crucial role in highlighting liver inflow or outflow obstructions and their potential causes. Cross-sectional imaging provides a panoramic view of liver vascular anatomy and parenchymal patterns of enhancement, making it extremely useful for the diagnosis and follow-up of VLDs.

Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) is a promising modality for differentiating benign and malignant lesions in various organs, including the testis. Testicular tumors, common in young men, are often treated with radical orchiectomy, which can have significant consequences. This study aimed to analyze CEUS parameters and their association with malignant testicular tumors.

The pretherapeutic assessment of axillary lymph node status is crucial in staging early breast cancer patients, significantly influencing their further treatment and prognosis. According to current guidelines, patients with clinically unsuspicious axillary status regularly undergo a biopsy of sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs), whereby metastasis is detected in up to 20% of cases. In recent years, the use of shear wave elastography (SWE) has been studied as an additional ultrasound tool for the non-invasive assessment of tumors in the breast parenchyma and axillary lymph nodes.
