Although uncommon, stroke can be a catastrophic inpatient complication for patients with hip fractures. The current study determines the incidence of inpatient stroke after hip fractures in elderly patients, identifies risk factors associated with such strokes, and determines the association of stroke with short-term inpatient outcomes. A retrospective review of all patients aged 65 years or older with isolated hip fractures in the 2011 and 2012 National Trauma Data Bank was conducted. A total of 37,584 patients met inclusion criteria. Of these patients, 162 (0.4%) experienced a stroke during their hospitalization for the hip fracture. In multivariate analysis, a history of prior stroke (odds ratio [OR], 13.24), coronary artery disease (OR, 2.05), systolic blood pressure 180 mm Hg or higher (OR, 1.66), and bleeding disorders (OR, 1.65) were associated with inpatient stroke. Inpatient stroke was associated with increased mortality (OR, 7.17) and inpatient serious adverse events (OR, 6.52). These findings highlight the need for vigilant care of high-risk patients, such as those with a history of prior stoke, and for an understanding that patients who experience an inpatient stroke after a hip fracture are at significantly increased risk of mortality and inpatient serious adverse events. Background: With substantial resources allocated to develop virtual reality (VR)-based rehabilitation exercise programs for poststroke motor rehabilitation, it is important to understand how patients with stroke perceive these technology-driven approaches, as their perceptions can determine acceptance and adherence.
Objective: This study aimed to examine the perceptions of patients with stroke regarding an immersive VR-based exercise system developed to deliver shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist, and reaching exercises.
Methods: A questionnaire was used to assess the perceptions of 21 inpatients who had experienced stroke (mean time from stroke onset: 37.

Objective: Evidence of virtual reality's (VR) efficacy in hospital settings coupled with the rise of inexpensive consumer devices have led to the development of social virtual reality (SVR) applications being incorporated in hospital settings. SVR provides opportunities for social interactions in virtual environments, allowing individuals to virtually socialize, regardless of geographic or mobility constraints. However, the full range of potential applications and the challenges of deploying SVR in hospital settings remain unexplored.

B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) levels accurately reflect the degree of cardiac overload in heart failure. Considering cardiac morphology and intracardiac pressure, including the left ventricular end-systolic volume index (LVESVI) and left ventricular end-diastolic volume index (LVEDVI), is essential for cardiac overload assessment. These indexes influence plasma BNP levels, and high heart rate is likely associated with cardiac morphology.

Objective: Non-verbal Screening Test for Aphasia and Dysarthria scores correlate with post-stroke cognitive function; however, their correlations with activities of daily living dependency and home discharge (cognitive function-associated outcomes) remain unclear. We investigated the correlation of these scores with activities of daily living dependency and home discharge outcomes.
Materials And Methods: Disability levels and functional outcomes of 278 inpatients with brain injury (age: 72.
