Obtaining high efficiency spin filtering at room temperature using spinel ferromagnetic tunnel barriers has been hampered by the formation of antiphase boundaries due to their difference in lattice parameters between barrier and electrodes. In this work we demonstrate the use of LiTiO thin films as electrodes in an all-spinel oxide CoFeO-based spin filter devices. These structures show nearly perfect epitaxy maintained throughout the structure and so minimise the potential for APBs formation. The LiTiO in these devices is superconducting and so measurements at low temperature have been used to explore details of the tunnelling and Josephson junction behaviour.

The design and synthesis of cost-effective and highperformance oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalysts for water splitting based on earth-abundant elements is urgent but challenging. A synergistic doping and architecture engineering strategy by nanosecond laser ablation is used to generate a unique kind of highly disordered Ni-doped Fe O nanoparticle clusters. Ni dopant and increased oxygen vacancies are simultaneously incorporated into Fe O frameworks and thereby modulate the electronic configuration for an optimal binding affinity towards OER intermediates.

Boosting the performance of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) beyond the state-of-the-art is mandatory toward meeting the future energy requirements of the consumer mass market. The replacement of conventional graphite anodes with conversion-type metal-oxide anodes is one progressive approach toward achieving this goal. Here, a LIB consisting of a highcapacity spinel NiMn O anode and a high-voltage spinel LiNi Mn O cathode was proposed.
