Catalytic CO oxidation over Pd(111) and PdAu(111) surfaces was investigated by in situ spectroscopic observations to understand the alloying effect. The reaction behaviour on PdAu(111) is greatly different from that on Pd(111). Pd monomer and dimer ensembles can act as active centers, whereas triangular-shaped trimers and larger ensembles are inactive.

Doping with non-metallic heteroatom is an effective approach to tailor the electronic structure of Ni for enhancing its alkaline hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR) catalytic performance. However, the modulation of HOR activity of Ni by lattice carbon (LC) atoms has rarely been reported, especially to reveal the rule between the doping effect and activity caused by the content of LC atoms. Here, hydrogen is proposed as a scavenger for LC atoms in the pyrolytic reduction process to finely control the content of LC atoms in Ni.

This work is focused on the synthesis and performance of Ni(PO)-based catalysts doped with Cu, Co, Mn, Ce, Zr, and Mg for the complete oxidation of ethanol, aiming at reducing emissions from ethanol-blended gasoline. Nickel phosphate was prepared via the co-precipitation method, followed by impregnation with the specified dopants. The catalysts were thoroughly characterized by XRD, N-physisorption, XRF, FTIR and Raman spectroscopy, FESEM, NH-TPD, CO-TPD, and H-TPR to explain their performance.

Tripterifordin and neotripterifordin are important ent-kaurane diterpenoids in the Chinese medicinal herb Tripterygium wilfordii, possessing significant anti-HIV(human immunodeficiency virus) activity. On the basis of elucidating the natural biosynthetic pathways of these compounds, heterologous production with microbial cell factories can help to alleviate the reliance on plant resources and provide abundant raw materials for sustainable production. TwKO is the first CYP450 enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of tripterifordin and neotripterifordin.

Converting 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) to 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) via electrooxidation is a sustainable approach for generating high-value chemicals from biomass. This study presents Mn-doped Ni(OH)2 nanosheets as an effective electrocatalyst for HMF electrooxidation. The Mn-doped Ni(OH)2 nanosheets were synthesized through a microwave-assisted deep eutectic solvent (DES) strategy, followed by an alkaline reflux process.

Kraft lignin (KL), a byproduct of the pulp and paper industry, is commonly combusted as a low-grade fuel. However, its high sulphur content results in the emission of sulphur oxides, which pose environmental hazards. This study explores a sustainable approach for the valorisation of waste KL into syngas via CO-mediated pyrolysis.
