Gastrointestinal nematodes are the major cause of animal diseases, and the indiscriminate use of synthetic anthelmintic contributes to the development of drug resistance. Natural bioproducts are noteworthy since they have proved to be promising for alternative antiparasitic therapies. This study evaluated the in vitro effect of WSMoL (water soluble Moringa oleifera lectin) on hatching of eggs and on the development of early-stage larvae of gastrointestinal nematodes from naturally infected goats. In addition, the interference of WSMoL on activity of proteases was determined and the affinity of the lectin for glycosylated molecules of these parasites was investigated using fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC)-labeled WSMoL. WSMoL at 250μgmL interfered on hatching of eggs (40.4% of not hatched eggs; p=0.018), and on larval development (stages L1-L3) (IC of 78.22μgmL). The activity of secreted proteases showed a significant increase in the presence of WSMoL (307.14U/mg-1031U/mg). FITC-labeled WSMoL recognized embryonic egg content and larval content after hatching, which suggests that WSMoL interact with intestinal glycoconjugate receptors in the embryo, as well as in cuticle of the larvae.

Proteins and polyphenols exhibit distinct biological activities and functional properties. A comprehensive investigation into the formation mechanisms, structures, and functional properties of protein-polyphenol complexes will deepen our understanding of their interactions and establish a theoretical foundation and technical support for development of novel functional foods and pharmaceutical products. The almond protein-phloretin (AP-PHL) covalent complex was synthesized through the covalent binding of hydroxyl radicals to phloretin (PHL), utilizing almond protein (AP) as the raw material.

The application of biodegradable chelating agents in phytoremediation is a promising approach. This study aimed to investigate the effects and roles of underlying mechanisms of water-soluble carboxymethyl chitosan (WSCC) and rhamnolipids (RLs) on the remediation of Cd-contaminated soil by Hylotelephium spectabile. WSCC and RLs mediated the growth of H.

Wet-crushing with aqueous media protection is considered safer and more efficient than common inert-gas protected dry-crushing in preprocessing spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). However, it is also accompanied with the releasement and transformation of hazardous electrolyte, while the mechanisms and pollution impact yet remain unknown. Based on a self-built wet-crushing system, this topic was systematically investigated here.

A novel aggregation-induced emission (AIE)-based artificial light-harvesting system (LHS) is successfully assembled via the host-guest interaction of bis-naphthylacrylonitrile derivative (BND), water-soluble pillar[5]arene (WP5), and sulforhodamine 101 (SR101). After host-guest assembly, the formed WP5⊃BND complexes spontaneously self-aggregated into WP5⊃BND nanoparticles (donors) and SR101 (acceptors) is introduced into WP5⊃BND to fabricate WP5⊃BND-SR101 LHS. Through the investigation of energy transfer between donors and acceptors, the artificial light-harvesting processes are certified in WP5⊃BND-SR101 LHS and the absolute fluorescence quantum yields (Φ) are significantly improved from 8.
