Published: October 2017

Premise Of The Study: We developed microsatellite markers to study clonal growth and interspecific hybridization in the Patagonian and subantarctic plant (Asteraceae) and its closest relatives.

Methods And Results: We developed primers for microsatellite loci from 454 sequence reads of genomic DNA of . We tested them on individuals of , , , , and . We selected 15 polymorphic microsatellite loci, which delivered clearly scorable fragments in most or all species. With mean values between 0.7 and 0.8, the expected heterozygosity in populations of is high.

Conclusions: Due to high levels of polymorphism, the developed markers make it possible to distinguish between genets and ramets in . In some markers, null alleles complicate the scoring of genotypes in tetraploids. All of the developed markers are suitable to study interspecific hybridization among this group of closely related species.

In this research, we analyzed Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD), Inter Simple Sequence Repeats (ISSR) and Sequence-related amplified polymorphism (SRAP) markers to evaluate the genetic diversity of eighteen different onion genotypes with various resistant levels to FOC. The results showed that the polymorphism means between RAPD primers was 61.11 to 81.

Comprehensive analysis of LMNB2 in pan-cancer and identification of its biological role in sarcoma.

Aging (Albany NY)

July 2024

Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Southern Medical University, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China.

Backgrounds: Sarcoma (SARC) is a mesenchymal tumor which often responds poorly to systemic therapy. It is therefore important to look for possible biological markers that could tell the prognosis and the progression of SARC.

Methods: A combined evaluation of the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and genotypic tissue expression (GTEx) portal was used to analyzeLMNB2 expression level in different types of cancer.

CAG/CTG repeats are prone to expansion, causing several inherited human diseases. The initiating sources of DNA damage which lead to inaccurate repair of the repeat tract to cause expansions are not fully understood. Expansion-prone CAG/CTG repeats are actively transcribed and prone to forming stable R-loops with hairpin structures forming on the displaced single-stranded DNA (S-loops).

LR99ES12, Laboratoire de Génétique Moléculaire, Immunologie et Biotechnologie, Faculté des Sciences de Tunis, Université de Tunis El Manar, Tunis 2092, Tunisia.

Assessing and determining genetic diversity in rose species is a crucial step for conservation efforts, the establishment of a core collection, and the development of new varieties. This study represents the first investigation of genetic diversity among various rose species at different ploidy levels in Tunisia, with the aim of elucidating the genetic structure of the genus. It encompasses both spontaneous and cultivated accessions, featuring local and introduced species recognized for their adaptability, ornamental value, and fragrance.

Genetic Diversity and Identification of Species Through Microsatellite Analysis.

Plants (Basel)

December 2024

Centre for the Research and Technology of Agro-Environmental and Biological Sciences (CITAB), University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), 5000 Vila Real, Portugal.

The genus contains about 500 species distributed worldwide but only a limited number of species have been studied for genetic diversity using molecular markers. In this study, a genetic analysis was conducted on three Vaccinium species (four cultivars of , four wild populations of , and two cultivars of ), for a total of 95 genotypes, using eight microsatellite (SSR) loci. A total of 57 alleles were detected.
