Purpose: To describe a case of unilateral acute idiopathic maculopathy (UAIM) response to intravitreal therapy with aflibercept (Eylea).
Methods: Retrospective case report.
Results: A 36-year-old woman with sudden visual impairment and central scotoma was found to have a UAIM in her left eye. Three weeks after continuous worsening of her visual acuity and central scotoma, the patient was treated with intravitreal injections of aflibercept. The visual acuity increased and the macula lesion regressed, causing macula scarring after 2 injections.
Conclusions: Intravitreal injections of aflibercept could be a therapy option in patients with UAIM without signs of spontaneous resolution of the clinical manifestations and visual improvement.

Angiomyolipoma (AML), composed of smooth muscle cells, blood vessels, and adipose tissues, belongs to a family of tumors originating from perivascular epithelioid cells. Angiomyolipoma most commonly arises in the kidney but is extremely rare in the nasal cavity. Angiomyolipoma is classified into hepatorenal and mucocutaneous AML.

A 42-year-old man experienced recurrent coronary artery spasm (CAS) secondary to eosinophilic asthma despite being on multiple medications. He underwent a successful unilateral stellate ganglion block followed by bilateral thoracoscopic sympathectomy, with no subsequent recurrence of CAS. These invasive therapies offer a potential treatment option for refractory CAS.

In our research, we constructed models of renal ischemia-reperfusion (I/R)-exposed acute kidney injury (AKI) and unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO)-stimulated renal fibrosis (RF) in C57BL/6 mice and HK-2 cells. We firstly authenticated that oral pinocembrin (PIN) administration obviously mitigated tissue damage and renal dysfunction induced by I/R injury, and PIN attenuated UUO-caused RF, as confirmed by the reduced expression of fibrotic markers as well as hematoxylin-eosin (H&E), Sirius red, immunohistochemistry, and Masson staining. Meanwhile, the beneficial role of PIN was again demonstrated in HK-2 cells with hypoxia-reoxygenation (H/R) or transforming growth factor beta-1 (TGF-β1) treatment.

Objectives: Serum galectin-3 (sGal-3) is a protein present in renal tubules and increases in experimental rodent models of acute kidney injury. The aim of this study was to compare sGal-3 concentrations in healthy cats and cats with ureteral obstruction (UO).
Methods: This was a retrospective study.
