Objectives: Cell proliferation is known to be controlled by many networks of regulatory proteins. These multiple and complicated mechanisms of control are still being investigated. The aim of the present study is to determine the different properties of adult rat brain thermostable protein complex (TPC) which affect cell proliferation.

Materials And Methods: This experimental study used brain, kidney and liver tissue from adult (150-170 g) and adolescent (7, 10, 21, 28 days) white rats, adult pigeons and mice. Brain TPC was isolated by alcohol extraction, and primary antibodies Ki67 and GAD65/67 were used for immunohistochemistry, evaluation of transcriptional activity of the tissues and determination of the mitotic index.

Results: The results show that brain TPC from rats reversibly decreases cell proliferation by inhibiting transcription. The evidence suggests that TPC is not species-specific, but expresses tissue specificity with regards to terminally differentiated cells. Rat brain TPC inhibits mitotic activity of the progenitor cells in the dentate gyrus of adolescent rats, and corresponding with this decrease in the mitotic index the number of Ki67 positive cells increases. Simultaneously, the number of GAD65/67-positive cells in the hippocampus decreases by approximately threefold.

Conclusions: These results indicate that rat brain TPC causes the reversible suppression of cell proliferation through the inhibition of transcription. Inhibitory effects of rat brain TPC leads to an increase the number of cells in the cell cycle, in tissues of adolescent rats.

Introduction: The mechanism of remimazolam, a benzodiazepine that activates γ-aminobutyric acid a (GABAa) receptors, in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is not well understood. Therefore, we explored whether remimazolam activates protein kinase B (AKT)/glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK-3β)/nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (NRF2) to attenuate brain I/R injury in transcerebral I/R-injured rats and transoxygenic glucose deprivation/reperfusion (OGD/R)-injured SY5Y cells.

Material And Methods: Remimazolam was added at the beginning of cell and rat reperfusion, and the PI3K/AKT inhibitor LY294002 was added to inhibit the AKT/GSK-3β/NRF2 pathway 24 h before cellular OGD/R treatment and 30 min before rat brain I/R treatment.

Background And Aim: The NLRP3 inflammasome can be activated after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), triggering an inflammatory response in the brain. Chinese herbal medicine Zhongfeng Xingnao Prescription (ZFXN) is commonly used in China for intracerebral hemorrhage treatment. However, the underlying treatment mechanism of it is unclear.

Institute of Food Science and Technology, College of Bioresources and Agriculture, National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan.

Background And Aim: (CM) and (AM) are medicinal mushrooms with potential applications in the treatment of mood disorders, including depression and anxiety. While research suggests that both CM and AM possess anti-inflammatory properties and hold potential for treating depression when administered separately, there is limited knowledge about their efficacy when combined in a formula, as well as the underlying mechanism involving the modulation of microglia.

Experimental Procedure: Rats received oral administrations of the low-dose formulation, medium-dose formulation, and high-dose formulation over 28 consecutive days as part of the UCMS protocols.

This study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the 100 most cited articles on experimental cardiac arrest models in rats, identifying key contributors, publication trends, research themes, and collaboration networks. A comprehensive literature search was performed on the Web of Science (WoS) database on June 11, 2024, using keywords related to cardiac arrest and rat models. The top 100 most cited articles were analyzed using the Biblioshiny web application from the Bibliometrix R package (version 4.

Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a syndrome that arises from acute or chronic liver failure. This study was devised to assess the impact of a combination of boswellic acid (BA) and low doses of gamma radiation (LDR) on thioacetamide (TAA)-induced HE in an animal model. The effect of daily BA treatment (175 mg/kg body weight, for four weeks) and/or fractionated low-dose γ-radiation (LDR; 0.
