Switchable conducting or dielectric materials, as the key component, show important technological applications in modern electrical and electronic devices, including data communication, phase shifters, varactors, and rewritable optical data storage. To explore new types of switchable conducting or dielectric materials could significantly accelerate the development of efficient electrical and electronic devices. Herein we present the first example of switchable conducting and dielectric material, which is based on an open-framework phosphate, (CNH)CoPO. A reversible isostructural phase transition occurs at ∼348 K in this open-framework phosphate, to give both dielectrics and conductance anomaly around the critical temperature of phase transition. This study will provide a roadmap for searching new switchable conducting or dielectric materials as well as new applications of open-framework phosphates.

Mechanical metamaterials exhibit several unusual mechanical properties, such as a negative Poisson's ratio, which impart additional capabilities to materials. Recently, hydrogels have emerged as exceptional candidates for fabricating mechanical metamaterials that offer enhanced functionality and expanded applications due to their unique responsive characteristics. However, the adaptability of these metamaterials remains constrained and underutilized, as they lack integration of the hydrogels' soft and responsive characteristics with the metamaterial design.

Due to its "ferroionic" nature, CuInPS combines switchable ferroelectric polarization with highly mobile Cu ions, allowing for multiple resistance states. Its conductive mechanism involves ferroelectric switching, ion migration, and corresponding intercoupling, which are highly sensitive to external electric field. Distinguishing the dominant contribution of either ferroelectric switching or ion migration to dynamic conductivity remains a challenge and the conductive mechanism is not clear yet.

Advancements in stimuli-driven nanoactuators necessitate the discovery of photo-switchable, self-contained semiconductor nanostructures capable of precise mechanical responses. The reversible assembly of 0D CsBiI halide perovskite nanoplatelets (NPLs) between stacked and scattered configurations are demonstrated under light and dark, respectively. This sunlight-triggered perpetual flipping of the NPLs, occurring in less than a minute, is associated with a color change between brown and red.

Luminescent metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with exceptional dynamics and diverse active sites possess tremendous potential in information security and anticounterfeiting applications. However, traditional MOF systems are based on broadband spectral signals with spectrum overlap, which easily leads to low-resolution signal identification, compromising the overall security level. Here, we report the coordination-defect-induced amorphous pure-MOF microsphere with switchable whispering-gallery-mode (WGM) signals as a mode-dependent security platform.

Thermal cycling-based quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) represents the gold standard method for accurate and sensitive nucleic acid quantification in laboratory settings. However, its reliance on costly thermal cyclers limits the implementation of this technique for rapid point-of-care (POC) diagnostics. To address this, isothermal amplification techniques such as rolling circle amplification (RCA) have been developed, offering a simpler alternative that can operate without the need for sophisticated instrumentation.
