Tetraadamantylbiphosphine (TABP; L1), which showed superior activity in the palladium-catalyzed cyanation of 4-chloroanisole compared to standard phosphines, was synthesized as a new ligand. The generality of the new catalytic system was shown by the cyanation reaction of approximately 30 (hetero)aryl halides including hindered, electron-rich, and electron-poor aryl chlorides. These reactions constitute the first examples of using biphosphine ligands in Pd-catalyzed coupling reactions.

We describe the synthesis, physicochemical characterization, and antitumor assays of four novel analogous ruthenium(II) complexes with general formula -[Ru(N-L)(P-P)]PF, where P-P = bis(diphenylphosphine)methane (dppm, in complexes 1 and 2) or bis(diphenylphosphine)ethane (dppe, in complexes 3 and 4) and N-L = 5,6-diphenyl-4,5-dihydro-2-[1,2,4]triazine-3-thione (Btsc, in complexes 1 and 3) or 5,6-diphenyltriazine-3-one (Bsc, in complexes 2 and 4). The data were consistent with arrangement of the biphosphine ligands. For the Btsc and Bsc ligands, the data pointed to monoanionic bidentate coordination to ruthenium(II) through , and ,, respectively.

Luminescence clusters composed of organic ligands and metals have gained significant interests as scintillators owing to their great potential in high X-ray absorption, customizable radioluminescence, and solution processability at low temperatures. However, X-ray luminescence efficiency in clusters is primarily governed by the competition between radiative states from organic ligands and nonradiative cluster-centered charge transfer. Here we report that a class of CuI cubes exhibit highly emissive radioluminescence in response to X-ray irradiation through functionalizing biphosphine ligands with acridine.

A novel porous organic polymer catalyst with encapsulated single-site Rh (Rh@CPOL-DPMphos&-3vPPh) was developed and employed in heterogeneous hydroaminomethylation of alkenes, affording the corresponding amines in good to excellent regioselectivity and catalytic activity by a one-pot method. The combined actions of hierarchical pore confinement and the biphosphine ligand derived from the POP catalyst contributed to the improved regioselectivity.

Electroluminescent (EL) nanoclusters holding promise for new-generation cluster light-emitting devices (CLEDs) rapidly emerge. However, slow radiation and serious quenching of cluster emitters largely limit the device performance. Herein, we report two monofunctionalized biphosphine chelated CuI clusters [DMACDBFDP]CuI and [DPACDBFDP]CuI.

The triple-negative breast cancer subtype (TNBC) is highly aggressive and metastatic and corresponds to 15-20% of diagnosed cases. TNBC treatment is hampered, because these cells usually do not respond to hormonal therapy, and they develop resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs. On the other hand, the severe side effects of cisplatin represent an obstacle for its clinical use.
