Zirconia exhibits good tissue compatibility and nontoxicity, making it a widely used esthetic replacement material for implant abutments. To avoid abutment-fracture, the parts composed of zirconia with a bonded metal component connected to the implant can be used. The purpose of this study was to design titanium and zirconia components with high fracture resistance at the zirconia component's edge line. Three edge line designs of the titanium base and zirconia sleeve were made: chamfer, shoulder, and back-taper. To assess the strength of the abutment design, static loads were applied vertically and 30 degrees from the vertical axis. A test of tensile strength was also performed after chewing simulation. Conventional zirconia components mounted on a chamfer-type titanium base showed significantly lower fracture resistance than shoulder and back-taper types. This study suggests that to improve the durability of zirconia abutments with a titanium base, a back-tapered edge design is recommended.

This paper explores the process of forming arrays of vertically oriented carbon nanotubes (CNTs) localized on metal electrodes using thin porous anodic alumina (PAA) on a solid substrate. On a silicon substrate, a titanium film served as the electrode layer, and an aluminium film served as the base layer in the initial film structure. A PAA template was formed from the Al film using two-step electrochemical anodizing.

This case report describes the reconstruction of a rostral maxillary defect by two custom-made titanium implants following a rostral partial maxillectomy for treatment of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) in a seven-year-old dog. An incisional biopsy and CT scan were performed to establish the diagnosis, to plan possible surgery, and to assess the margins of the tumour. The patient had no radiographic signs of metastasis at the time of diagnosis.

Background: Anatomically formed healing abutments were suggested in literature to address many of the issues associated with immediate posterior implant insertion such as large extraction sockets that are extremely hard to seal without reflecting the mucoperiosteal flap, extraction sockets anatomy that are not suitable for regular healing abutment placement, and potentially high occlusal stresses when planning a temporary implant supported prothesis to improve the conditioning of supra implant tissue architecture and the emergence profile of the implant supported restorations.
Purpose: To clinically evaluate the peri-implant soft tissue profile of single posterior implant retained restorations and to assess patient related outcomes of the implant restorations that were conditioned immediately by CAD-CAM socket sealing abutments (SSA) versus those conditioned by Titanium (Ti) standard healing abutments (SHA).
Methods: Twenty participants received twenty-two single maxillary immediate implants after flapless minimally invasive tooth extraction and 3D guided implant placement in the posterior area (premolar and molar) and allocated randomly into two groups (n = 11), the intervention group: patients received PEEK SSA and the control group: the patients received Ti SHA.

Background And Objectives: Securing the base of the appendix is the most critical part of laparoscopic appendectomy in children. Determining the average values of the appendix, will facilitate the creation of suitable instruments, and will also have an impact on research in imaging studies.
Methods: One hundred and eight patients with the acute appendicitis were randomized into 2 groups: group I: children aged 2-10 years old, group II: children >10 years of age.

An exceedingly porous and interwoven fibrous structure was achieved in this study by interlocking titanium carbide (TiC) MXenes onto the electrospun mats using poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) as the base polymer. The fibrous membrane was further modified with the inclusion of zinc oxide (ZnO) and tungstite (WO·HO) nano/microstructures via annealing and hydrothermal approaches. Through these strategic interfaced morphological developments in novel TiC/ZnO/WO·HO heterostructures, our findings reveal enhanced wettability and charge-segregation desirable for promoting oil-water separation and photoreactivity, respectively.
