A novel and efficient method for the carbonylative activation of benzotriazoles to benzoxazinones has been developed. By using a silver and palladium bimetallic catalyst system, a broad range of benzotriazoles were transformed into the corresponding benzoxazinones in moderate to good yields with excellent functional group tolerance. Notably, this procedure proceeds under neutral conditions.

Palladium-doped silver nanoclusters (NCs) have been highlighted for their unique physicochemical properties and potential applications in catalysis, optics, and electronics. Anion-directed synthesis offers a powerful route to control the morphology and properties of these NCs. Thin-film membranes of Pd-Ag and Pd-Cu alloys capable of releasing hydrogen in a wide temperature range have been developed. The surface activation of the membranes with a nanostructured coating made it possible to intensify hydrogen transport through Pd-containing membranes at low temperatures. This effect was achieved by accelerating limiting surface processes by increasing the active area of the membrane.

Metal hydrides are sensitive to HO and O, which reduces the atom efficiency of the hydride donors. Silver (Ag) is an inexpensive coinage metal; however, its lower activity compared to gold, platinum, and palladium limits its application in catalytic hydrogenation.
