: , a plant of the family which is well-known for the alkaloids they produce, is a perennial plant widely distributed in the northeast, central and east regions of China. Although a variety of chemical constituents, including alkaloids, flavonoids, and megastigmoids, have been isolated from , the investigation of saponins in has not been reported until now. : Various separation techniques, including polyporous resin column chromatography, silica gel column chromatography and hemi-preparative HPLC were applied to the isolation of triterpenoid saponins, and chemical methods such as acid hydrolysis and spectroscopic methods including HRESIMS and NMR were applied to their structure elucidation, and the XTT reduction method was used to assay cytotoxicity. : Two new triterpenoid saponins, named hylomeconoside A () and B () which were identified as 3--β-d-galactopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-d-glucuronopyranosyl-gypsogenin-28--β-d-xylopyranosyl-(1→3)-β-d-xylopyranosyl-(1→4)-α-l-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-d-quinovopyranoside () and 3--β-d-galactopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-d-glucuronopyranosyl-gypsogenin-28--β-d-xylopyranosyl-(1→3)-β-d-xylopyranosyl-(1→4)-α-l-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-α-l-arabinopyranoside (), and two known triterpenoid saponins identified as dubioside C () and lucyoside P () on the basis of spectroscopic and chemical evidence, were isolated from Compound exhibited moderate cytotoxicity on MGC-803 and HL-60 cells, with IC values of 43.8 and 32.4 μg·mL, respectively. Compounds and are new saponins, and is considered to be one of the antitumor principles in this plant. This is the first time that triterpenoid saponins have been isolated from plants of the family.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the major cause of chronic liver disease worldwide, with no universally recognized effective treatments currently available. In recent years, ginseng and its principal active components, such as ginsenosides, have shown potential protective effects in the treatment of these liver diseases. In NAFLD, studies have demonstrated that ginseng can improve hepatic lipid metabolism, reduce inflammatory responses, and inhibit oxidative stress and fibrosis, thereby attenuating the progression of NAFLD.

Background: Neural stem cells (NSCs) disrupt with aging, contributing to neurodegeneration. Ginsenoside Rg1 (Rg1), a compound found in Ginseng, is known for its anti-aging effects; however, its role in the progression of aging NSCs remains unclear. Therefore, this investigation explored the impact of Rg1 on the growth and maturation of aging NSC and elucidated its underlying molecular mechanisms.

Deapioplatycodin D (DPD) is a triterpenoid saponin natural compound isolated from the Chinese herb Platycodon grandiflorum that has antiviral and antitumor properties. This study aimed to investigate the effects of DPD on glioblastoma (GBM) cells and to determine its intrinsic mechanism of action. Using a CCK8 assay, it was found that DPD significantly inhibited the growth of GBM cells.

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a metabolic disorder that arises during pregnancy and heightens the risk of placental dysplasia. Ginsenoside Re (Re) may stabilize insulin and glucagon to regulate glucose levels, which may improve diabetes-associated diseases. This study aims to investigate the mechanism of Re in high glucose (HG)-induced apoptosis of trophoblasts through endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS)-related protein CHOP/GADD153.

Previous studies have suggested that ginsenoside Rg glycine ester derivative (RG) exhibits therapeutic potential in mitigating hypoxia. This study aimed to elucidate the potential mechanism of RG in hypoxia injury through a combined approach of metabolomics and network pharmacology. Initially, a CoCl-induced cell hypoxia model was established, and the therapeutic impact of RG on biochemical indices was evaluated.
