Introduction: The increased concentration of B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) is an expression of overload of the heart, regardless of the cause. Exercise test is a helpful method of assessing the exercise tolerance and myocardial ischemia.

The Aim: The aim of the study is to determine the factors that cause the release of BNP during the exercise test.

Material And Methods: The study included 99 patients with diabetes and after myocardial infarction with preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (EF≥40%). Before performing the exercise test (ExT) echocardiography was performed and blood sample was taken to determine BNP. Immediately after the exercise test another blood sample was taken to determine BNP.

Results: In 22 patients (22%) an increase in BNP ≥35pg/ml after the exercise test was observed. In patients with EF.

Background: Concurrent exercise (CE), an emerging exercise modality characterized by sequential bouts of aerobic (AE) and resistance exercise (RE), has demonstrated acute benefits on executive functions (EFs) and neuroelectric P3 amplitude. However, the effect of acute CE on inhibitory control, a sub-component of EFs, and P3 amplitude remains inconclusive. Moreover, exploring the mechanisms underlying the effects of acute exercise on EFs contributes to scientific comprehension, with lactate recognized as a crucial candidate positively correlated with EFs.

Breathlessness dimensions should be evaluated in relation to the level of exertion: a clinical study.

Respir Physiol Neurobiol

January 2025

Respiratory Medicine, Allergology and Palliative Medicine, Department of Clinical Sciences in Lund, Lund University, Lund, Sweden.

Background/aim: Exertional breathlessness is a dominating symptom in cardiorespiratory disease, limiting exercise capacity. Multidimensional measurement has been proposed to capture breathlessness, but it is unknown whether it is useful to differentiate people with abnormal vs normal exertional breathlessness intensity.

Methods: This was a secondary analysis of a randomized controlled trial of outpatients aged ≥18 years performing a symptom-limited cycle incremental exercise test (IET).

The aim of the research was to develop the design of a striking dummy and the theoretical foundations of martial arts strikes and to test its effectiveness in a pedagogical experiment. This paper presents the design of a striking dummy and the foundational theories behind martial arts strikes. We used modern microelectronics, including a diverse range of sensors, for executing a multitude of electromechanical measurements.

Background And Purpose: The objective was to examine the adjuvant effect of active pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) versus microwave (MW) therapy, as well as sham PEMF, in addressing pain and improving functionality for treating knee osteoarthritis (KOA).

Methods: This was a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial. Individuals diagnosed with KOA were assigned to an intervention combining an exercise program (EX) with active PEMF, MW, or sham PEMF.
