This paper investigates the fate of manuscripts that were rejected from -, the flagship journal of social simulation. We tracked 456 manuscripts that were rejected from 1997 to 2011 and traced their subsequent publication as journal articles, conference papers or working papers. We compared the impact factor of the publishing journal and the citations of those manuscripts that were eventually published against the yearly impact factor of and the number of citations achieved by the mean and top cited articles. Only 10% of the rejected manuscripts were eventually published in a journal that was indexed in the Web of Science, although most of the rejected manuscripts were published elsewhere. Being exposed to more than one round of reviews before rejection, having received a more detailed reviewer report and being subjected to higher inter-reviewer disagreement were all associated with the number of citations received when the manuscript was eventually published. This indicates that peer review could contribute to increasing the quality even of rejected manuscripts.

Objective: We aimed to investigate the effects of Tongluo Zhitong formula on synovial fibroblast proliferation in human knee osteoarthritis (KOA).
Methods: Discarded synovial tissue collected from patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty at our hospital was digested with type I collagenase. Primary culture was performed on three to four generations of fibroblasts, which were treated with high, medium, and low concentrations of Tongluo Zhitong formula.

Background: The study focuses on the use of multi-parametric ultrasound [gray scale, color Doppler and shear wave elastography (SWE)] to differentiate stable renal allografts from acute graft dysfunction and to assess time-dependent changes in parenchymal stiffness, thereby assessing its use as an efficient monitoring tool for ongoing graft dysfunction. To date, biopsy is the gold standard for evaluation of acute graft dysfunction. However, because it is invasive, it carries certain risks and cannot be used for follow-up monitoring.

Background: Most spheroid models use size measurements as a primary readout parameter; some models extend analysis to T cell infiltration or perform caspase activation assays. However, to our knowledge, T cell motility analysis is not regularly included as an endpoint in imaging studies on cancer spheroids.
Methods: Here, we intend to demonstrate that motility analysis of macrophages and T cells is a valuable functional endpoint for studies on molecular interventions in the tumor microenvironment.

Tacrolimus is extensively used for the prevention of graft rejection following solid organ transplantation in pregnant women. However, knowledge gaps in the dosage of tacrolimus for pregnant patients with different CYP3A5 genotypes and infection conditions have been identified. This study aimed to develop a pregnant physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model to characterize the maternal and fetal pharmacokinetics of tacrolimus during pregnancy and explore and provide dosage adjustments.

Objective: The transplantation of hearts from donors who experienced intracranial bleeding (ICB) has been associated with inferior long-term survival in both single-center analyses and, more recently, with the United Network for Ogan Sharing Registry. The purpose of this study was to further explore this relationship through propensity score matching in recipients receiving donor hearts from ICB and non-ICB donors in a large national registry.
Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort analysis of the United Network for Organ Sharing Registry Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network between 2006 and 2018 for adult candidates wait-listed for isolated heart transplantation.
