Objective: To create acute pancreatitis condition experimentally in rats using cerulein, and to reveal histopathological effects in pancreatic tissue with erdosteine.
Study Design: An experimental study.
Place And Duration Of Study: Department of General Surgery, Duzce University, Turkey, from June to October 2014.
Methodology: Thirty male Wistar albino rats were divided into three groups. No procedures were applied to Group 1. The rats in Group 2 and Group 3 were injected cerulein, to establish an experimental pancreatitis model and the blood amylase and lipase values were examined. The rats in Group 3 were given 10 mg/kg erdosteine. This treatment was continued for another 2 days and the rats were sacrificed. The pancreatic tissues were examined histopathologically for edema, inflammation, acinar necrosis, fat necrosis, and vacuolization.
Results: The lipase and amylase values and the histopathological examination of pancreatic tissues evidenced that the experimental acute pancreatitis model was established and edema, inflammation, acinar necrosis, fat necrosis, and vacuolization were observed in the pancreatic tissues. The statistical results suggest that erdosteine can decrease the edema, inflammation, acinar necrosis, fat necrosis and vacuolization scores in the tissues.
Conclusion: The severity of acute pancreatitis, induced by cerulein in rats, is reduced with the use of erdosteine.

This study sought to establish and validate an interpretable CT radiomics-based machine learning model capable of predicting post-acute pancreatitis diabetes mellitus (PPDM-A), providing clinicians with an effective predictive tool to aid patient management in a timely fashion. Clinical and imaging data from 271 patients who had undergone enhanced CT scans after first-episode acute pancreatitis from March 2017-June 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were classified into PPDM-A (n = 109) and non-PPDM-A groups (n = 162), and split into training (n = 189) and testing (n = 82) cohorts at a 7:3 ratio.

Purpose: To determine if endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) should be performed with surgery or as a different step, on acute cholecystitis, and which strategy has the least complications and morbimortality.
Methods: Various databases (PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, Science Direct, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, CINAHL, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, clinical trials, Google Scholar) were searched for randomized trials comparing the different timings for ERCP and cholecystectomy. No language or time restrictions were applied.

Objective: This study aims to examine whether the presence of mutation exists in the vitamin D-connector protein gene rs7041 variant of the pancreatitis table for patients diagnosed with coronavirus disease 2019.
Methods: A total of 113 patients with normal pancreatic enzyme levels diagnosed with coronavirus disease 2019 and 120 patients with both coronavirus disease 2019 diagnosis and high pancreatic enzyme levels were included in the study. The rs7041 genotyping of the 11th single nucleotide variation in the vitamin D-connector protein gene was determined by polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism methods.
