Methylmercury concentrations in fish from the historically polluted Minamata Bay remain higher than in fish from other coastal seas around Japan. To obtain a better understanding of this phenomenon, the chemical characteristics of pore water from Minamata Bay sediments were investigated. Samples were taken from two stations over a 1-year period. Total average values in the pore water at the two stations for dissolved total mercury and methylmercury concentrations were 6.64±4.93 and 2.69±2.07ng/l, respectively. The pore water was centrifuged at 1000rpm to 3000rpm. The highest ratio of dissolved methylmercury to dissolved total mercury exceeded 60% for pore water centrifuged at 3000rpm. Furthermore, because total average values of Log Kd of total mercury and methylmercury in sediment (St1 and St2) were 5.42 and 2.32 (Lkg), methylmercury in Minamata Bay sediment is more eluted than other mercury species.

Precise control of nanobubble size is essential for optimizing the efficiency and performance of nanobubble applications across diverse fields, such as agriculture, water treatment, and medicine. Producing fine bubbles, including nanobubbles, is commonly achieved by purging gas through porous media, such as ceramic or polymer membranes. Many operational factors and membrane properties can significantly influence nanobubble production and characteristics.

Two-dimensional (2D) covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with designable pore structures can be synthesized under the guidance of topology diagrams. Among the five existing edge-transitive topological nets, topology is considered a fine candidate for constructing COFs with ultramicropores. However, all of the reported COFs with topology need the use of -symmetric monomers, which are limited in compound type and difficult to synthesize.

The failure of locked-segment landslides is associated with the destruction of locked segments that exhibit an energy accumulation effect. Thus, understanding their failure mode and instability mechanism for landslide hazard prevention and control is critical. In this paper, multiple instruments, such as tilt sensors, pore water pressure gauges, moisture sensors, matrix suction sensors, resistance strain gauges, miniature earth pressure sensors, a three-dimensional (3D) laser scanner, and a camera, were used to conduct the physical model tests on the rainfall-induced arch locked-segment landslide to analyze the resulting tilting deformation and evolution mechanism.

Investigating how the size of carbon support pores influences the three-phase interface of platinum (Pt) particles in fuel cells is essential for enhancing catalyst utilization. This study employed molecular dynamics simulations and density functional theory calculation to examine the effects of mesoporous carbon support size, specifically its pore diameter, on Nafion ionomer distribution, as well as on proton and gas/liquid transport channels, and the utilization of Pt active sites. The findings show that when Pt particles are located within the pores of carbon support (Pt/PC), there is a significant enhancement in the spatial distribution of Nafion ionomer, along with a reduction in encapsulation around the Pt particles, compared to when Pt particles are positioned on the surface or in excessively large pores of the carbon support.

In last few decades, the agriculture sector is facing various type of crops diseases originated by crop pests. Among various crops the tomato plant is greatly affected by many pests such as aphids and whiteflies, which are badly decreasing tomato plant yield and effecting its growth. In last few years, various type of pesticides such as Neonicotinoids and Pyrethroids are employed with are badly effecting eco system and water bodies.
