Introduction: Maternal mortality remains a significant challenge for public health globally, particularly in developing areas such as Ica, Peru. This study aims to analyze the risk factors contributing to maternal mortality in reference hospitals in Ica during the period of 2010 to 2020.
Methods: A case-control study was conducted, including 49 cases of maternal deaths and 98 controls, applying multivariate logistic regression to analyze data collected from hospital records.

Background And Objective: Iliopsoas abscess (IPA) is a rare condition with varied symptomology and etiology. Less than one-third of patients with IPA present in the emergency department (ED) with the traditional triad of fever, back pain, and restricted hip motion (or limp), leading to delays in diagnosis and management. Acute liver failure is also a rare clinical presentation in the ED, being associated with high morbidity and mortality.

Delirium is an acute decline or fluctuation in attention, awareness, or other cognitive function that can lead to serious adverse outcomes. Despite the severe outcomes, delirium is frequently unrecognized and uncoded in patients' electronic health records (EHRs) due to its transient and diverse nature. Natural language processing (NLP), a key technology that extracts medical concepts from clinical narratives, has shown great potential in studies of delirium outcomes and symptoms.

Recent advances in immunology have challenged the conventional division of T-lymphocyte function by uncovering novel subpopulations with diverse roles and characteristics. This article reviews these discoveries and their implications for understanding immune regulation and disease pathogenesis. Innovative techniques have enabled the identification of previously unrecognized T-lymphocyte subsets, disrupting the classical classification system.
