This study describes the development of a composite edible film based on pectin and fish skin protein capable of protecting food from microbial attack and oxidative degradation. The film was prepared with glycerol as plasticizer and the antioxidant and antimicrobial phenolic compounds hydroxytyrosol (HT) and 3,4-dihydroxyphenylglycol (DHPG), extracted from olive fruit, as active agents. The influence of the concentration of plasticizer and active HT/DHPG on the mechanical and functional properties of the films was investigated, with values of water vapor permeability (WVP) between 0.13-0.22gmm/hmkPa and oxygen permeability (OP) between 9.91-40.76cmμm/mdkPa. The release behavior in water at different pH values was also evaluated. The antimicrobial capacity of the novel food coating was tested on strawberries, a fruit with high perishability. The bioactive edible film containing HT/DHPG preserved the strawberries against mold during storage with a significant delay in visible decay.

Half-metallic magnetism, characterized by metallic behavior in one spin direction and semiconducting or insulating behavior in the opposite spin direction, is an intriguing and highly useful physical property for advanced spintronics because it allows for the complete realization of 100% spin-polarized current. Particularly, half-metallic antiferromagnetism is recognized as an excellent candidate for the development of highly efficient spintronic devices due to its zero net magnetic moment combined with 100% spin polarization, which results in lower energy losses and eliminates stray magnetic fields compared to half-metallic ferromagnets. However, the synthesis and characterization of half-metallic antiferromagnets have not been reported until now as the theoretically proposed materials require a delicate and challenging approach to fabricate such complex compounds.

Although MoSe-based photodetectors have achieved excellent performance, the ultrafast photoresponse has limited their application as an optoelectronic synapse. In this paper, the enhancement of the rhodamine 6G molecule on the memory time of MoSe is reported. It is found that the memory time of monolayer MoSe can be obviously enhanced after assembly with rhodamine 6G exhibiting synaptic characteristics in comparison to pristine MoSe.

Realization of a sustainable hydrogen economy in the future requires the development of efficient and cost-effective catalysts for its production at scale. MXenes (MX) are a class of 2D materials with 'n' layers of carbon or nitrogen (X) interleaved by 'n+1' layers of transition metal (M) and have emerged as promising materials for various applications including catalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Their properties are intimately related to both their composition and their atomic structure.

Oncolytic therapy, inducing cell death via cell membrane lysis, holds considerable promise in cancer treatment. However, achieving precise control over the structure and function of oncolytic materials for highly selective oncolytic therapy is a key challenge in the context of the subtle differences between tumor and normal tissues/cells. Herein, we report the development of pH-ultrasensitive oncolytic polyesters (pOPs) with an alternating sequence of ionizable and hydrophobic groups.

Purpose: To linguistically and cross-culturally translate Hip Disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score into Urdu language (HOOS-U), and test its psychometric properties among patients with hip pain.
Materials And Methods: Translation and cross-cultural adaptation of English version of HOOS were carried out following international guidelines. Psychometric testing included reliability (internal consistency and test-retest reliability), validity (content and construct validity) and responsiveness.
